Let's cordially get this back on track.

If you were emperor for a day and could only implement 1 item, what would it be?

Mine would be the federal budget can't be any more than 95% of the previous year's tax revenue. Any savings goes towards paying down the debt.

I thought those memes were extremely cordial especially the really nice fluffy white sheep. Should be a shep, sheep should be plural but that’s neither here nor there.

Oh Id tax the shit outta rich motherfuckers who basically pay to have the tax laws on their side instead of milking blood from stones who have no voice. They dont wanna pay taxes than they have the option of donating some of what they owe to charity. (Clarification edit the rest goes to uncle sam - you don’t save money by donating it to charity in this scenario). Gotta stop the rich/poor divide. No it isn’t socialism it is fair. Someone who makes 80 k a year and has to part with say 5 k. Someone who makes 80 million well guess what…..

Well since you nailed it with the 1 idea I'll go with term limits for all motherfuckers. Congress, Supreme Court, el Presidente, idgaf. Term limits for school board motherfuckers. Fuck 'em all.

Could have easily been my first order of action as emperor. Emperor would be exempt of course.

"Not since 2001 has Congress balanced the federal budget — and it’s getting worse."

20 years with no federal budget? That's just insane.

Let's see how my buddy takes it?

Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever

In terms of voters, I have never talked to anyone, literally not 1 person, that supports Mitch McConnell. Doesn't matter what side of the fence they are on.

What the hell has been going on in Kentucky? This question can apply to lots of other places too, but some of the other places (Pelosi coming to mind) makes sense. Kentucky is largely conservative and he still keeps winning. There is nothing conservative about him. Conservatives hate him and all democrats hate him. But yet, the turtle lives on.

Do any of you guys on the left (not including Manchin) have any people that you're not sure how they are in office as a democrat?

It used to be in my top 5 until one of my friends who worked with Giffords on the Hill explained the downside. Term limits for congress runs a risk that the unelected congressional staff would eventually acquire all the power - ie they'd become Mandarins. They already wield substantial power on the hill that most of us aren't even aware of.

I support Mitch McConnel and he is a conservative. Don't confuse conservativism with populism (ie Trump and the Trumpers). He's also the smartest politician in Washington (which is probably why he is the most effective).

Not saying this is wrong, because I've never heard this perspective before. Genuine question, how would unelected congressional staff acquire more power from term limits?

In general, there are definitely way too many unelected people with way too much power on this country. So I wouldn't doubt above could be true to an extent. But would it be worse than getting life long teet suckers like McConnell, Pelosi, Schumer, etc., elected forever?
