If you're like me, you want more bang for your buck. Back in my drinking days these are what got me pissy.

Ale Delirium Tremens
Huyghe Brewery, Belgium

Aventinus EISBOCK
Schneider & Sohns, Bavaria

Legend's Brown Ale
Legend Brewery Co, Richmond VA

Sierra Nevada's Celebration Ale
Sierra Nevada Brewing Co, California
(Seasonal: Get a case)

Murphy's Irish Stout
Cork, Ireland
(Bought out by Heineken)

Don't mix these.

The Delerium Tremens is fantastic, but at $19 per four-pack, it's reserved for a special occasion.

True, but seeing how strong it is you shouldn't need more than a four pack. The ones I bought were as big as wine bottles for about ($3.00) a pop. I haven't drank in a long time so I can only imagine how expenisve they are now.

it seems we all like the dogfish. i remember 5-8 years ago you could get a 6 pack for 7 bucks, now its up to 9 dollars but i occassionaly splurge pick some up.

schneed im going to have to try VBC, if its better than dogfish im going to have to try it.

my fav is stone brewing company out of san diego. im an IPA guy aswell and i give their IPA and pale ale a slight nod over dogfish.

this is not a micro but i used to love a case of pete's winter brew around xmas time. im not into the seasonal ales but this one knocked my socks off. unfortunately it is very hard to find, ive put special requests in places that can get almost anything and they have had no luck.

magic hat no 9 is pretty damn tasty too, the more i drink it the more i taste the slighest hint of peach (which i dont like but it is very subtle, kinda hard to distinguish/taste but now that my mind knows its in there i have a hard time drinking it anymore).

wild goose (fredrick) is pretty good too. is there a wild goose brew tour in fredrick?

brewers art resurection (sp?) is real tasty too. have only seen it on tap, not in bottles. where is this out of? bmore?

man i should get back to work.

go skins!!

Clipper City Brewing Company out of Baltimore makes a killer triple-hop IPA called Loose Cannon. It's fantastic.

Resurrection has become one of my favorite beers over the last year, but yeah you can pretty much only get it on tap. Brewers Art is out of B'more. When I lived in Federal Hill last year you could get it at most places and there was a bar by my house that would fill up your growler if you had one for like $10, which is a steal.
There was also a little dive bar by my house called Captain Larry's that served it. We used to go on Wednesdays because they had half priced crab cakes that were unbelievable. Plus, you could pair it with a cheap happy hour Resurrection and it was like you were eating a meal fit for a king. That's one of the few things I miss about that city.

Yes, yes there is. It's a great tour. Flying Dog bought Frederick Brewing Company a few years ago and moved their operations to Frederick, phasing out the Blue Ridge label to focus on Wild Goose and their brand Flying Dog. The tour is free, but in order to drink, you buy a $5 pint glass that they gladly refill as much as you want.

I sucked down a few of Wild Goose's Winter Ale this past season, and they are quite good. Both Wild Goose and Flying Dog make a pretty good IPA.

Magic Hat is really popular around UVA as is Star Hill which is brewed real close. They come in a close second to Natty....

My girlfriend brought home a six pack of their "Berry Weiss" the other day. It was god awful. They fact that they even market it as "beer" is a joke. It was straight up Boone's Farm in a 12oz bottle.
