Eclipse 2024

Looking at 98.9% coverage here in my backyard, anyone else got a good view today?

Nope, So, Maryland here and should see about 70% but we have clear skies. They say keep an eye on your pets that this can freak them out.

Re: Eclipse 2024

I'm sitting this one out as a peaceful protest. I was told in 2017 that I may not live to see this again, it would be decades. So we got the glasses and booked to the beach where we had a good time with all the other viewers.

Now here we are not even 7 years later for this "once a generation" event and I'm not buying more glasses, the box with the hole thingy my wife made never seems to really work. It's honestly a been there done that situation for me so I'm about to take a nap as this works it's way towards Maryland.

Yawn

The build up versus the outcome sucked. I can’t believe schools let out early and were even out for the day around Richmond. It was like a 3rd covered here…wtf

Wife was on the deck with her box contraption, I noticed this time we were closer to total whatever it's called than the last time. I sat in my recliner as it was cloudy, didn't really notice it getting any darker.

Awesome view from the shore. Noticed some glasses were way better than others.

Yeah the scientists had a window to study the universe when the eclipse happened. Usually it is nearly impossible to see for obvious reasons. Pretty cool. Sorry it ruined your day Chico.

2017 was the first eclipse in 100 years visible across the US. First one visible in US skies at all in like 40 years so that was certainly generational. This one was more hyped because
A) longer totality
B) more solar flares
C) the moon was about 8000 miles closer to the earth than 2017.

Re: Eclipse 2024

Not overhyped if you were in the path of totality, even at nearly 99% it was pretty awesome to see. It got really dark, birds stopped singing and the temperature drop was very noticeable
