Kudos to the Skins 2011 Draft

I made this thread to say congrats to Mike Shanahan and Bruce Allen for having only 6 draft picks, and trading to get 12 draft picks, and with those 12 draft picks, 9 of the 12 made the team. The 3 that didn't make the team are now on the PS and all have promise and potential compared to previous drafts under Zorn/Cerrato and Cerrato/Gibbs.

It finally looks like this team is headed in the right direction.

Re: Kudos to the Skins 2011 Draft

Let's wait a year to see if it was worth keeping them all around.

I'll second that. Don't want to crap on your thread but it's a little premature to say congrats because we still don't have any idea if these guys will pan out. The indications are good so far but preseason and regular season are very different. If this thread was started 3 years from the draft when most of the picks made the team and were regular contributors then this thread would be well deserved.

True bro, but i am more hopeful this season than for more than i care to remember.

At last we seem to have a coherent plan going forward and i for one am optomistic improvement will be manifest.

Barring injury, two players are locks to be studs: Kerrigan and Jenkins.
Another two are likely to be studs: Helu and Hank
Then you have four guys with promise: White, Thompson, Gomes, and Neild.

Not to mention that Shanahan has relatively rigorous standards to make his teams compared to those fellas running the show in 2008.

Helu yes, Hank, let's hold off on that -- DT and MK were supposed to be studs as well but little things kept them from getting to even serviceable players. Right now, hank has got the 'little thing' bug - namely, catching the ball which is kind of a big thing for a WR

Only due to shoddy analysis and "hope" were Kelly and Thomas ever deemed to be serviceable from the get-go. Thomas was known to be raw and project and Kelly was known to be "cursed" with injuries.

Besides likely is around 60-80% in this context. I already considered the possibility of failure.

Re: Kudos to the Skins 2011 Draft

Very true that you all say we should 'hold off' before we say this was a good draft. But 75% of our draft picks made our roster this year. That hasn't happend in quite some time.

Plus you look at last years draft and you have:
Trent Williams- our LT for the next 10 years @least
Perry Riley- Good depth player and STer
Terrence Austin- Has shown promise
Erik Cook- made our roster as depth at C

Dennis Morris and Selvish Capers are our only bust picks.

Ummmm, I think we had 100% draft retention in 2008. You know, that really bad draft class....

Re: Kudos to the Skins 2011 Draft

Glad they finally got it but they should've done this when they took over. These guys have to get on the field and play regular season games before we know anything. Got to give it a couple of years before we know if this is a good draft. But I like the direction they're going in.
