The Redskins 2020 draft class
Christian is a full DRAFT BUST. He won’t make it past this TC.
The holes at TE, CB and OT will be filled with the new Kyle Smith /Rivera strategy. Use their big $35 mill cap chest to hire fired players from other teams as they are let go in TC and PS ( if there is a preseason). All teams pick up players right before the regular season. I just think Rivera is going to do it on a much bigger scale and part of a real PLAN. Why do I think this is going to happen? 1. Huge war chest. Second highest in the NFL. Most teams are broke by now scrambling for players. Redskins are holding back for one year, Uber-cheap contracts of players trying to stay in the NFL, that have been let go on other squads. 2. Open spots on the team. Most teams are full up with 90 or almost 90. Redskins are at 84. Holding spots open for players to be signed later is off season?? 3. Limited UDFA. Last year the Redskins signed something like 8 UDFA. This year it is just 4. Why? Less potential talent? I think they are looking more at the fruit that’s going to drop from OTHER TEAMS. Is there more chances of getting players from other teams OVER LOADED WITH TALENT AT A POSITION? For instance, the Bears have 10 TE’s -they’ll get rid of half. One or two may be worth a look or a small, short contract. 4. I couldn’t figure out why the Redskins got no one of consequence in FA OR the draft at TE. They need TE’s to replace Reed and Davis. They have little talent on their roster from last season. What were they waiting for? Rivera thought Hooper was over-priced. They didn’t pick up Trautman in the draft. I believe they see their players coming perhaps from the cast offs of other teams. That’s my theory. Let’s see if I’m right over the next few months !! Hiring a dozen or so new players late in the TC and PS cycle at positions of need. If I’m wrong then they DON’T have a plan for certain positions and we’ll get new players there in NEXT YEAR’s draft. Rivera is hinting that they look at this year as being a wash. Too many holes to fill. But maybe they hope to gain players from others left overs. We shall see! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I domt have the link for reference, but it was a keim article on espn.com. I think that's why they didnt make a huge splash. I agree with everything else you said there, though. A few stop gaps that can produce after cuts may well be exactly what hes looking for feeling we are closer than our record indicated.

We could be better than our record indicates. A very good defense will keep you in every game. And with JDR (and RR) with the talent we've amassed on that line, you'd expect they'd see some real potential there. If we have any progress on O with DH ... who knows what could happen. |

The team last season, IMO, had tanked it early. I recall speaking with a Dolphins fan after we beat 'em and he was saying (paraphrased), "We ('Fins fans, fans of the NFL and people around the league) all know the Dolphins are tanking.... What's the Redskins' problem?" I replied confidently by saying, "Just because it's not being mentioned by anyone doesn't mean it's not happening. But the Redskins, IMO, are also tanking. I've watched enough games to know better and my eyes rarely ever tell lies." In the end, the Dolphins were trying to win, but I truly believe we were tanking it last season. If not early in the season; it sure as hell looked like it was happening near the midway point of last season. I'd sure as heck would love to be in the playoffs, but I'm gonna hold off on such talk. But I'm in agreement with you in that this team will be better than last season's team. I'm not talking about one, two or even three games better. I'm referring to several games better. I'll go with 7 or 8 wins for now. |

I dont know man, that is a loaded stance with so many variables. Is Haskins the guy? Will Guice stay healthy? Will McClaurin take a step back? Who is our Tight end? Is our O line capable? Is our secondary capable? Is Payne gonna bounce back? Is our mlb group decent? That is a whole lotta ifs. Id say we need at least 4-5 of those 8 questions do be a definitive yes for us to even sniff the playoffs. Namely Haskins and the O line. If those two areas crumble we are screwed. |

You didn't see this defense last year. This defense is led by Jack Del Rio and Ron Rivera. That is a gigantic difference. And their track record is reason enough for optimism. Combined with the talent we've gathered. |

Absolutely, he's got great size and speed. Catches in traffic and is a stud in the slot.

Re: The Redskins 2020 draft class
I did wonder if we could have gotten him a little later than 3rd round because of Gibson's limited experiences, but I guess he showed enough to convince Redskins (and you).
