Yes he's 33 but he's always been a freak of an athlete and is in top shape. My expectations for him aren't high, but I wouldn't bet against him pulling off a late career revival type of year running behind a much better OL and overall offense than he had in Arizona.
Most running backs not named Riggins do not do well at that age.

I'm well aware, I wouldn't say he's a typical kind of RB though, he came back 8 months after an ACL injury to have an MVP year

Frank Gore is still going strong and he's 2 years older, can he at least play at a Frank Gore type of level? I think so.

People seem to forget that Peterson played most of his games last season with an Arizona team that had the combination of Drew Stanton and Blaine Gabbert at QB.

he also sucked in NO . . . behind a line that had no problem for blocking for their other two RB's

He didn't suck in New Orleans, they just didn't give him the ball because they had a younger/better back in Ingram and the emergence of Alvin Kamara. And back then he was still expecting to be an every down back regardless of where he went.

This year is a completely different situation with him (taking the vet min, knowing he has to fight for a roster spot, taking any opportunity to play) and with our team (two healthy RBs).

So if Perine or Kelley blows up that’s great, it’s not like we’re heavily invested in AP. Those guys will still have their chance.

Perine hasn't even had much of a chance this pre season. Really want to see if he's gotten any better. I do believe he has some upside. Kelly is just 3 or 4 yards and a cloud of dust.

With our luck AP will tear it up for a few weeks and get hurt.

Someone said they don't get the hate. I read the thread. There are a lot of folks on here that experienced similar or worse abuse. It is totally understandable that abuse victims would be hateful of an abuser of the defenseless. Have some empathy towards your fellow fans. I find it hard to support him too, but I wish him and his children the best. I especially wish the best to my fellow fans who saw or experienced excessive physical or emotional abuse at the hands of someone much more powerful. I think he will be fine both on and off the field. People do change.

I looked at the pics of the wounds of the kid online. If those pics don't piss you off then so be it. The excuse that he did that cause he was raised that way is a weak one. I don't want him on the team I root for. Go to Dallas or the Bengals.

Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson

so . . . if Ezekiel Elliot got hurt, and Peterson would have replaced him on the Cowboys . . . what would your feelings be then? The POS is horrible not matter who he plays on . . . but i think the majority of you that are in full support of him are that way because you're hoping he could be good for the Skins, regardless of what he did or whether or not he deserves a chance to play again. The only reason teams and the NFL allow players like him to still play is that there is never enough backlash from fans. Exactly the opposite actually. AP will probably bring in extra $$$ and as long as he does that, let him play. And that is the problem!!

The difference, and I think it's a big difference, is that some teams have a we don't care policy about bringing in " bad guys ". This was not the Redskins first choice nor the second choice it was a situation where a guy did something awful paid the consequences and two or three years later the Redskins had a need and brought him in from that. Again Dallas almost revels in bringing in less than desirable people who are still in the midst of the struggles Cincinnati would be another case. I think that's a major distinction.

Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson

This thread is depressing. The only thing I don't like about the signing is how divisive it is. That has nothing to do with whether a player will help us win games, which ideally is the only thing that matters. He's legally allowed to play and the NFL has cleared him to play. So I'm 100% fine with him playing if he can produce. My stance typically is if he/she is legally cleared and/or served his/her legal punishment already, then the matter is done with. I've never physically abused someone but I have a million of my own past sins that thank God don't dictate the rest of my future. Hopefully regardless of our personal opinions we all stick together here and root for the Skins like its 1999.
