Agree. He has 1st round talent but It will be tough for him to make it.

That is a strange thing to say. If he dominates as he did last year before he got hurt, they would be forced to keep him. That kind of talent doesn't grow on trees.

If he dominates, then yea.

If he is slightly above the next guy, does he get a roster spot with his injury history and inability to ever stay on the field?

Allen, Payne, Ioannidis, Lanier, Settle are all locks. Hood is the favorite for the 6th spot. Possible they could keep 7 but probably unlikely.
Sounds like Taylor is doing the absolute best job possible to force the team to keep him. Thats all he can do, and it gives him a good chance to catch on with another team if we can't keep him. I'm rooting for the guy regardless of where he plays.

Hood’s a lock too because Settle and Lanier are specialists. 2 down run stuffer and pass rush specialist. If Allen or Ioannidis go down, Hood is the guy that replaces them.

To me the only drama is whether we decide to keep a 7th or not with that battle being fought by McGee and Taylor.

I have no idea of the likelihood of this, but I would love them to keep 7 DLs.
Cut Smithson, I trust our DB squad.

We could dominate the trenches, I don't want that to be jeopardised.

Confused on this -- I know Ziggy is a coach favorite, but seems like if Phil Taylor plays better than Hood, Hood would be at risk.. Ziggy is 31yo and Taylor is one year younger... Not to mention Phil is a true NT. Also last year, Ziggy played out of position, but his PFF grade was 38.5, #122nd rated DL..

Re: Training Camp 2018

A common theme with A Smith throwing the ball is the accuracy...he places the ball better than Cousins whether its back shoulder, ball away from defenders and placing it with more run after the catch opportunities.

Also heard A Smith communicates better than Cousins with his receivers.

Hopefully this leads to better execution of the passing game.

Look for the fade then.

When you hear other players describe Smith the word that keeps coming up is 'precise'

Training camp so far is not doing anything to stop the koolaid from flowing. Now of course we have to wait for preseason to drag on.

pass over that drank cause if the eagles can win a superbowl...anything can happen...even a dominant D-Line for the Redskins.

The media does a great job talking up all these stories about how well so and so looks in camp. We hear the same thing year after year after year. I just can't pay any attention to it at all cause it means nothing. Remember how great Doc and Pryor looked last year? Once the games started Pryor couldn't catch a beach ball.

I'm in wait and see mode w/ Smith. Yeah he does some things better than Cousins but he also is a conservative QB by nature. He has only gone over 4,000 one time in his career which is hard to do in the NFL these days. But he rarely turns the ball over. Smith sort of comes across as a guy who is good enough to stay employed as a starter, but really can't get a team over the hump and that's why two teams have moved on from him.

This is the worst flavored koolaid I've ever tasted.

Deep down in our souls tho, we all agree with this post in general. But I do think Smith is better for this team specifically than Cousins.
