Why is it a steal if we could give him like 7 mil guaranteed, and it would still be his best offer?

What team would ever consider giving him more than that?

you'd be very surprised, the pats and steelers and I want to say two NFC east teams were trying to sign hall when he became a free agent in the middle of the season...According to Zorn though he doesn't think that we'll resign him until the start of FA which means that the chances of him be back in a redskins uniform just got smaller (oh and zorn also said he wants to make kendall a priority to resign, which I don't think so since he doesn't get us any younger...this is when you go sign a stacy andrews )

With a potential capless year looming & financial uncertainty in general, not many teams will be looking to shell out big bucks for Hall IMO. All he needs is one team to do so, but if someone wants to guarantee over 13mil for him I hope they let him walk.
I think the Cowboys would love to have Hall.

Zorn said he doesn't expect it, but didn't rule it out either.

Didn't you know we're in panic mode, because Hall is either going to walk or we'll make him the highest paid CB in history. I talked to Vinny personally and he told me so. LOL.

I'm having too much fun with this. :smashfrea

Re: For all you D Hall lovers

this D was pretty damn good before d hall got here, i'd rather pay los top ten cb money vs d hall.

id rather be fiscally responsible now and have room to make moves 2 years from now vs. giving hall a big payday then being handcuffed to yet another overpaid but contractually unmovable player (who may become a PITA non-team player).

this D was and is good with or without hall in there. why pay no 1 corner money to a no 2 corner. oh well, just gotta be patient and wait to see what happens.

go skins!!

Yeah good point, if Hall were to walk it's not going to ruin this D. We would still be ok with Rogers, Springs, and Smoot as our top 3.

Springs will eat up 8.5M in cap space if hes here. last year, he only played in about half our games... so in 2009, we have every reason to expect Springs, if hes on the roster, to eat a ton of cap space that could be used to sign multiple players, while sitting on the bench half the season while Rogers and Smoot start...and dont forget, we are trying to trade rogers... which means Smoot, who at this point in his career is a #4 corner at best, could be the #1 corner in 50% of our games in 2009. It also means that Justin Tryon is going to be our #2 or #3 corner, because keeping Springs means we wont have money to go after quality players to replace Hall and Rogers.

The hall situation is not occurring in a vacuum where what happens with him has no effect on anything else. There are multiple things going on here, and securing Hall would give us tremendous leverage and flexibility in deciding what to do with Rogers and Springs. If we lose Hall, our leverage and flexibility is gone and we are SEVERELY limited in what we can do as far as upgrading our team with quality players in free agency.

That's a really good point, but 50mil is a lot to pay over
Hall's market value for leverage.

Well look at the bright side, it will be worth a 3rd round pick, in compensation for us next year. I think.

Only if we lose more FAs who sign big contracts this offseason than we sign to big contracts. And a pick between the end of the third round and the start of the first is the MOST we can hope to get in return...

To put that in perspective, with our 3rd rounder in 2008, we drafted Chad Rinehart, a player who, according to JLCs sources, is viewed as a complete bust by our front office. So in essence, in letting Hall walk we can hope to - at best - get a player who can play with our scout team for a year or two and never contribute anything to the team in terms of actually making the active roster and then contributing to the team in games.

Do you by any chance remember that 7th rounder that turned out to be a starter for our team? Just because Rineheart hasn't worked out, doesn't mean that ALL third rounders are not going to work out.

Man, I swear, you need to step out, light up a smoke and/or have a stiff drink. You're acting like the worst case scenario has happened to the team.

Hall will be the best corner on the free agent market. That is a fact. Yes he did not do that well in Oakland, but either does anyone. He played great for us. We should have kept him third string and leaked out that he sucked through sources. I think he will get at least 20 mil guaranteed and ten million a year.
