Re: Josh Harris finalizes deal to buy Commanders
Sheehan is right on the name, new fans or young morons who moved to the dmv for work, your opinion about the old name doesn’t matter and never will. Stand down, before you get sit down

Re: Josh Harris finalizes deal to buy Commanders
A new team name would be a good thing. All vestiges of the person who held this fan base hostage for nearly a quarter century should be eradicated and never spoken of again.

Re: Josh Harris finalizes deal to buy Commanders
Do we have legit polling that shows what the fan opinion on the name is?
Let’s go out and have a good season, maybe win a playoff game, see what it’s like to have actual adults running things, and then see how many people still want to bail over a name. |

So, while I'm aware rebranding a multi billions dollars franchise ain't an easy thing, it always made sense to me that changing the name would actually be one of the easiest things the new owner could do to be the cool guy in town. I hear how it's exhausting for us to go through this again, but keep in mind 2 things: -for the new owning group, this is the first rebranding, they didn't go through the first one -a few decades down the road, nobody will care that we had to endure 2 rebrandings in a span of a few years, everybody will be like "yeah the *whatever the new name will be*, that team used to be called the Redskins, then the on his way out owner was kinda forced to change the name, but it sucked and the new owner changed it again", and we will be among the very few old fans actullay remembering that there were a few months when this team was named "Washington Football Team" and "Washington Commanders". I won't be as adamant and active in the process this time around, cuz I'm pretty positive I'll like the new name better than the actual one, but this actually is the smart thing to do IMO.

Re: Josh Harris finalizes deal to buy Commanders
Serious … when referring to the Native American Indian What is the proper and respectful/political correct way to do so ..( not rehashing Redskin name please) I’m trying to understand why Cleveland changed the from the Indian name .. so if Indian name is wrong ..what is the proper way to refer to the American Indian ?(see I just did it .. can’t say Indian ) can I ??
I ask because with the possibility of name change and some including myself wanting to stay with some form of connection with the past Redskin days .. is the name Warriors, warpath , tribe, Native American, Cherokee, Apache, Seminole, Braves, tomahawk, Arrows, is any of that acceptable?? Or should all teams avoid any reference to native Americans? ( I understand how redskin could be viewed as offensive by some ) but surely the team should be able to come up with something that has a connection with the Native American Indian with being offensive.. or can they ?? |

Re: Josh Harris finalizes deal to buy Commanders
I am glad to see Snyder replaced. I have been listening to the propaganda from Harris's group. They sound just like Snyder did when he bought the team. Promises of being winners and returning the franchise to greatness. We will have to wait and see if they can succeed. But for now, there is hope.

I'm not a big fan of the name Commanders but when I look at the other names Commanders is better by a mile. The other names sound like minor league baseball teams. I see no reason to change from a so-so name to a bad one. |

I've accepted Commanders and Snyder is gone, so I'm happy as a fucking clam. The name change isn't a priority for me. Just happy we are free from that asshole. Training camp is FUCKING PACKED!! Fans chanting Thank you Harris! I'm super excited for our 1st game. It's gonna be wild seeing that stadium packed w/ actual fans of our team. LFG!!!!!

![]() I can live with a renaming as long as it's done properly this time, and Harris shows willing to do what's needed to get the fans choice of name. i.e. Buying out image rights, donating to a school to allow us to share the name, etc. Snyder went with Commanders because it was cheap and easy. I liked Red Wings, Red Wolves, Hogs, and all would have made some kind of sense, but I'd be happy with the consensus vote as long as he listens to the fans. |
