Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson

For those vehemently opposed, how will it affect your rooting for the team? Hypothetically if the skuns were to win the NFC and AP was voted comeback player of the year, would you not join in the celebration?

I could care less if he won comeback player of the year. I WOULD NOT celebrate that at all. I'm sure Dan and Bruce already have their marketing plan ready if AP does well. I'd rather roll with the guys we have, Perine, Bibbs, Kelly, CT and a healthy Marshall then root for AP. Year after year in the NFL we see no name RB's have great years. Plus AP fumbles and we already have Perine to do that. But give those guys running lanes (maybe except Kelly) and they'll gain yards. Hell even Kelly had one big game against Green Bay.

Right, because this was a preplanned move that's been in the works for a while, and not a response dictated by the multiple injuries we have at the position.

Right, because the same squad that couldn't get the job done last year can be expected to do a better job this year. When was the last year we had a no-name RB have a big year for us again?

Right, because fumbles were the reason he was let go from the Saints (two stud RB's) and Cardinals (crappy o-line) last year.

All Off season everyone here said "we have to get better at RB"

Drafted Guice, we are all stoked... He goes down, now what?? We had to make a move at RB

OMG People!

This is a one year rental for the much loved vet minimum!

If you didn't watch last weeks game, let me recap it for you:
CT: Didn't play because he's fragile and coming back from injury.
Kelley: 7 carries for 17 yards - HE SUCKS!
Perine: Injured
Marshall: Injured
Carter: Injured and cut - Injury settlement
Bibbs: 5 carries for 6 yards - HE ALSO SUCKS!

Our two healthy backs couldn't average 2 yards a carry combined.

This is a no risk, high reward situation.
Worst case, we cut him and it counts 600K against the cap.
Best case, he has a season like Marcus Allen when Allen went to the Chiefs.

The comment about Snyder and Bruce was a joke. But as I've said there will be guys cut pretty soon that could help us and I've already given the Collins example. Also when CP got hurt I do remember Ledell Betts having a career year and Duckett was pretty much a non factor.

To counter that, we gave up a 2nd round pick for Duckett, only paying 1 million for Peterson, Alex Collins doesnt happen every year, and whose to say we cant add someone else. In my opinion and you can call be a dumbass or whatever, your level of disgust/anger is much too high for the actual situation.

Signing AP doesn't preclude the organization from continuing their attempts to improve the team. If someone better is made available down the road who they think can make the team better, I'm sure they will due their due diligence.

I am rooting for the team to suck horribly as long as he is in on the team and for the team to pay for hiring a POS like that in the first place. (GM, coaches, everyone . . . FIRED) I would rather they went 0 - 16 without him than 19 - 0 with him.

You actually going to watch every game and hope we lose or just not watch any games? Either way, you're gonna have a miserable season.

I really really hope we win the NFC, and im really really hoping that AP has nothing to do with it. But in the spirit of your question I would probably join in the celebration and let it be known to all my friends, family, co- workers, and all others who know im a Skins fan that it is really unfortunate that a child abuser had to be the one to take us back to the promised land.
Said it once, and Ill say it again, his performance on the field this year cannot change what he did, and his ultimate fate for his actions is in Gods hands. I dont think he will be let off the hook by the big guy upstairs for winning comeback player of the year so ....

Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson

Low risk, possibly high reward.

I'm not concerned with what he did in his past (that doesn't mean I'm ok with it). It's simply not my place to say he can no longer work (football is his job right now) or live his life. I'm a fan of the Washington Redskins and I want them to win games! If he can help, I'm all for it. There are plenty of other public figures and people in my own community who have done terrible things. I'm not going to stand in front of their place of work screaming that they shouldn't be allowed to make a living. I don't waste my time and energy on something I am no where near and have no control over. He did what he did and everyone involved has moved on the best way they can. Fans, who have nothing to do with it, should do the same. HAIL!!

Re: Redskins Signing Adrian Peterson

Reports say he had the best workout by far... he signed a minimal deal so I think that speaks to his desire to be here, and we have a pretty significant need so from a football standpoint I don't really understand the hate.

Yes he's 33 but he's always been a freak of an athlete and is in top shape. My expectations for him aren't high, but I wouldn't bet against him pulling off a late career revival type of year running behind a much better OL and overall offense than he had in Arizona.
