Re: Redskins vs. Giants Game Thread 9/4/08
Springs not playing really hurt us I believe if he was playing the passes that Plax got on Smoot would have been limited. Zorn called a bad game but it was his first game we need to improve in the area greatly. I'm with Madden when he said we should of spiked the ball and kicked the field goal with .22 seconds on the clock. The receivers should have known better than to cut routes before the first down mark. We lost as a team but we really lost the game on 3rd down conversions.

Re: Redskins vs. Giants Game Thread 9/4/08
Come on guys, first year coach, he can't win them all. They need to learn from their mistakes and get their act together. We never addressed our WR issue, so we need to work with what we have. Also Zorn needs to realize that the runnign game is important, especially against pass rushing defenses. Our defense did well tonite and held their ground when they needed to do so. I hope with Springs and Smoot healthy, and Taylor at 100% we can be even better.

Zorn looked lost. I don't think he was even aware he was down to scores. Two thumbs down and a boot in the ass. Trash, complete trash. I mean, your first shot down field is with 3 minutes left in the game down two scores?
I don't care if he's a first year coach...this is football 101!

Re: Redskins vs. Giants Game Thread 9/4/08
Our defense was lights out after those first few scores. Also, I'm not sure the offense could have converted any of those dropped INTs anyway... it's going to take some time for this system to gel- Campbell and the wideouts will get better timing and we'll see less of these passes short of the marker on 3rd downs. Portis was a mad man tonight... loved seeing that monster block in the third quarter.

1 sack tonight, and it was on JC -- but he saved the OL a lot of embarassment as well.

Did anyone else feel that Mike Sellers wasn't used enough. I would have like to see him used more like Gibbs used him like an extra Offensive lineman.

Re: Redskins vs. Giants Game Thread 9/4/08
Campbell played much better in the 2nd half, and if it weren't for drop passes, running short routs (*cough*Thomas*cough*) and the fact that we were behind, things would have looked much better. I think Zorn needs to focus on the run as a way to develop the pass. He should have noticed that once Portis started to run the ball, the passes opportunities were there. All the pundits were saying that the Redskins needed to do a good job running the ball, instead the team went pass happy and Campbell got harrassed and sacked.
I must say that I'm not that concerneda about the defense if they become healthy. They were without Springs, then Smoot, and Taylor was not 100% and they still held the Giants to just one TD and three field goals. Given on the offense was performing, the defense would have easily given up another three TDs.

Re: Redskins vs. Giants Game Thread 9/4/08
When I heard Jerry Jones was very pissed when we took Colt I didn't think much of it. Now I think JC needs to sit. I love this team, but that was more than embarssing. That was horrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible. I know it's just the first game but damn that JC guy looked like a joke.
