I'd still keep him - I think he'll be useful again as he gets healthier. He was particularly terrible as a blocker this year but I think that gets better as he gets his legs under him.

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
We won't know our priority needs until Monday. If Howell comes out firing, starting QB could be his to lose which changes the current picture. If he stinks to high heaven then OL and QB are to of the list. Question is where do we fill those holes from. For me, we might be able to fill 3-4 positional needs from FA, particularly OL. If Howell is the guy then we need a vet QB as backup (presuming TH is gone), and ideally that's an FA not a trade. That then frees us up to use the draft to get BPA across the board.
So I'd target LB, OL (2-3) and TE from FA, then OL, CB, and LB in the draft, with probably another QB and RB thrown in. If we draft another WR in the early rounds someone wants shooting. I'm presuming we re-sign Payne or he gets tagged. If neither, that's another headache to solve. |

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
It's likely that this team will once again NOT be a destination of choice, even more so with the current ownership situation. Just can't see all that being ironed out in time for all the offseason deadlines with free agency, etc. We'll see...
I would like them to try to bring back DT Da'Ron Payne, S/ST Jeremy Reaves, LB Cole Holcomb, C Tyler Larsen, G Wes Schweitzer. Everyone else can find another home. I would like them to try to sign a Veteran QB, LB, CB, T, and G in free agency. Here's my short list: Jacoby Brissett, Roquan Smith, James Bradberry, Orlando Brown Jr, and Roger Saffold Draft: QB, G, T, C, DL/E, S, CB, LB - not necessarily in that order. I don't see a need for a TE or a WR at this point. Could always add a RB, TE or WR, but neither of those positions feel like even close to a priority with all the other holes and depth needed. |

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
I wouldn't draft a TE as it stands but I'd still see what we can do in FA. I'm not convinced we have a dependable receiving TE on the roster already. I like Thomas when he's 100% but I'm wondering if he's going to be 100% again.

Armani Rogers is going to surprise many, he's an athlete and is fast, really like him a lot.

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
I think it will be tough for Rivera to find a new OC because almost everyone knows Rivera will be on a hot seat next year.

Yes, but they could promote Zampese the QB coach or there may well be a young coach out there that would like a chance of year to show what he can do..

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
Snyder selling the team is No. 1. But I don't trust that asswhipe to do it. If that's not an option, and if Snyder stays, I'm assuming Rivera does too. Give me this:
1. Replace Turner. 2. Fix the OL thru FA and/or the draft. 3. Keep Payne. 4. Let Howell start the off-season as QB 1. 5. Draft a mid-round QB to compete with Howell, but most likely be a cheap back-up

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
Zampese who said Wentz was our best option last week and would look different because of Brob and a C? He’s as clueless as Turner.

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
Any assistant is going to want the opportunity to showcase as an OC, I don't think that'd be an issue.

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
List of FA QBs for 2023
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-age...trending-pages Snag 1 of these guys and get a mid-round QB. Let all 3 compete to start. I'm confident that Howell would win that competition and then we would still have depth and another developmental guy.
