Re: Redskins vs. Cowboys Gameday thread
Everything in passing is predicated on having time to throw. If you have to throw quick, you can't develop the long routes, and even your short routes will be well covered--LBs can cover in zone, if it's quick. But if you have time, folks can run free. We have not seen that. It's the line!
They did push it deep a few times and TRIED to other times. Those plays often ended in sacks or throwaways. Give us one more second! A few times JC got time, and you saw nice throws--the one to ARE was the best; the throw to Moss that he dropped wasn't bad. Otherwise, JC was under duress most of the game.

I agree Beemy, the roll out stuff to the weak side has to be cut out, plus those lateral screen type passes. God JC almost was picked twice with those quicky horizontal screen passes. Coach needs to throw out plays altogether or tweak the WCO if it is going to work with this bunch. I can't just believe our veteran line all of a sudden sucks eggs. I think the system has some glitches in it. |

We fell victim to the Brad Johnson and brady Quinn dink and dunk formula...got really predictable with the five and outs..

Re: Redskins vs. Cowboys Gameday thread
I don't think our line sucking is "all of a sudden". I can't remember the last time I had a lot of confidence in this line. They got better toward the end of last year... but they could'nt have gotten much worse.

But they've looked bad in the last 2 games, no doubt. And they are old.

But the line isn't markedly different (or worse) than it was last year. Samuels is just hurt. That's all.

1) Campbell has bailed out the OL many, many times in the past, but not so much the last two games. 2) Teams who blitz Campbell generally get burned. The Steelers got to us a lot with 5, and generally confused Campbell. Meanwhile, the Cowboys just covered all options down the field and forced Campbell to run or eat the ball. When Campbell's really getting whacked a lot, you can see that he still is confused on some of his more advanced reads. Actually, that's a problem for most quarterbacks. Campbell still has unbelievable pocket presence for someone his age, and his decision making when he's getting killed is usually less than ideal, but normally, it doesn't result in INTs, and that's what separates him from the pack.

GTripp,
What do you think about Zorn tweaking the playbook some? Those screen type out patterns are very dangerous and god those roll outs to the weak side are going to get JC killed!!!!! |

Getting Campbell away from the interior line is not a bad idea, but I agree that you don't want to cut the field in half too often.

Re: Redskins vs. Cowboys Gameday thread
Well that was a hard pill to eat last pm! As the old saying goes it all starts up front. It did the first drive and then, well you know the rest.
Our pass pro is awful, no slack the front five are all guilty of horrible play its not one player, they all need a good look in the mirror. And defensively our ends couldn't get to a QB if there life depended on it. Very disappointed in the rushing or lack there of. The opponents in this case homo is in the pocket having a picnic and we just can't get there? I just don't get what has happened to AC/JT I understand is coming of injury but is supposed to be healthy, Evans. CAN ANYBODY SACK A QB? Couple of nice picks Hall, Rocky, then can't capitalize, not a single point. Great effort and game ball to CP I could not believe when I was watching him on the field for warm ups, unreal heart....this guy is a true warrior/REDSKIN! And had a solid game. Turd of the day= Thanks Springs for HAVING to be 100% to play a fcking ball game in the NFL! Glad everyone else that plays this game doesn't live to you godly standards OR we would never have this great sport to go watch. The FANS did there part, the 12th man was alive and very vocal! There was by no means any repeat of the burg game! THE REDSKIN RAGS WHERE FLYING HIGH! Well this one is in the books, so we are what we are....? It appears to me looking at the standings we need to finish winning 5 of the next 6 to have a chance of any type of playoff action. Hope we get are act together quickly starting in Seattle.

This is a great point you bring up and something that's totally underpublicized. The defense DID come through in the first half at least, and the offense didn't do anything with those sudden change opportunities.

Re: Redskins vs. Cowboys Gameday thread
For my first time going to a game, (and it was Skins/Cowboys! C'mon!) and going through a sub-par (now we know) travel agency, I have to say, the most fun I had was in the parking lot. Unbeknownst to us (as we didn't have tix in hand until after the tailgait), we had THE WORST view from section 215...
![]() ...we did manage to enjoy ourselves. I mean, it was the Redskins after all, but next time, we know better. |
