Then you've probably got this order of preference, from what I've gathered

1. Dalton
1A. Locker
2. Ponder
3. Kaepernick
4. Mallet

However, after Ponder I believe that actually that cluster of McElroy, Taylor (maybe Stanzi) is preferable in 4th or 5th round over Kaepernick or Mallet in the 1st 2 rounds.

So, I would say if not Dalton, Locker, or Ponder then they probably wait a few rounds to take someone like McElroy. Again, no FA is really messing their plans up
SS, so there is substantial evidence to suggest that they prefer Dalton over Locker - even if it is slight?

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

I have no idea what's being discussed in this thread to date, it's so long and I'm lazy. But thought I'd share a thought.

I see Mike Jones at Redskins Insider asking the question as to whether the Redskins need to jump on Quinn at 10 because there's such a huge drop at OLB after that, and if they trade down we'd even likely not have a shot at an impact OLB.

For me, we have so many needs that I don't care if we get an OLB there or not. Just give me a good player at NT, DE, OLB, QB, WR, or offensive line with that 10th pick. In fact, trade down to pick up more selections, and just take whatever falls to us. Chances are it will be a player that fills a need!

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

At the end of the day I think I'd be happy with either Locker or Dalton.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

After watching the Gruden QB camp, I came away impressed with Locker, more than I thought I would at least. I don't follow college ball much so my firsthand knowledge of him is pretty limited. But he seems like a tough kid, a natural leader, and he's got an impressive athletic skill set.

Seems like he had a lot of responsibilities at the line of scrimmage in the Huskies' offense. No reason to think he won't work out here. Also, seems he has the same knocks as Cutler but with more athleticism and all the intangibles you could want. I may not work out, but I really hope we get this guy!

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

Hmmm. I was pulling for Quinn in the first but I'm warming up to J Jones at 10 and J Locker via trading up in the first to het him. He won't be there at #41. Let's build chemistry between them as early as possible. In the 5th thru 7th rounds go all D.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

I'd say Locker is the most ready To play QB in this draft.

Disagree. Locker needs mechanics and footwork work to overcome his problems in the pocket. I think that Ponder, with his experience in a pro style offense and his intelligence, is more plug-and-play.

I would say Mallett, Stanzi, Ponder, McElroy, Locker, Tyrod Taylor.

But, the advantage the pro-style QBs have might only last till training camp.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft

I say we hurry up and wait. With Grossman as this teams best option at QB Shanahan will surely be fired in a year or two. Then we can open the door and bring back Vinny

Anyway, I don't care if it's Locker, Dalton, Ponder, or V Young. Just get someone with promise. Give me someone that at least has upside.

I mean if we're going to get a QB we might as well do it right and get possibly the best prospect rather then settling for the 3rd or 4th guy.

Oh and hey....huh huh huh....maybe it's a SMOOTscreen. Huh huh huh. I made a funny.
