Re: Dwayne Haskins
There’s still time to pick up some WRs in the draft that can improve our WR corps. We’re not dead in the water yet.

Re: Dwayne Haskins
We better add one of the next 7 or 8 WRs.

Re: Dwayne Haskins
Sweat helped ease my pain over Haskins. I'm not a huge fan of his game but maybe we just lucked into a franchise QB, who knows. I'll support him until he proves otherwise. At the very least I'm happy we didn't trade up to get him.

Re: Dwayne Haskins
this is exactly how i feel . . . i would have preferred trading for rosen, grabbing burns at 15 and still having next years 2nd round pick . . . but i'm happy they didn't trade up for Haskins . . . and that Sweat fell to a place we could grab him, even it if cost us next years 2nd round . . . we'll see i guess

Re: Dwayne Haskins
Really hope they handle Haskins like KC handled MaHomes.
Don't throw him out there. Let him learn a year with Alex and Colt right by his side. I don't think this FO will tolerate that kind of patience. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Re: Dwayne Haskins
Everyone also thought we were going to bet the farm and move up to the top 5 to get him and that didn’t happen. Have some Faith. My thinking is they roll Keenum out to start the year as he has starting experience. If they don’t cut Alex he will be a good sideline mentor. Best scenario, Haskins starts next year. Less exciting scenario, Keenum struggles and Haskins starts by week 6 or 8. Worst case scenario, “Haskins wins the starting job” week 1.

Look, another report Colt had a setback in his recovery...I would move on from Colt and set the QB room with Alex Smith, Haskins and Keenam. Id attach Smith at the hip of Haskins with the plan of giving Keenam the first opportunity at the job. Then let the competition begin...let Jay make the call right before season, but we shouldn't rush it.

I just worry with Gruden's job on the line he'll feel pressured to start Haskins before he's ready. |

Re: Dwayne Haskins
Look, if he was a lock, he wouldn't have been there at 15. Going in, all the hype was "Danny is going to trade the farm to get into the top 5". That didn't happen. We got a talent with serious potential without trading picks. Will he be the savior? Who the fuck knows? But not giving him a shot when he was sitting there at 15 would have been a serious mistake, IMO. It's cost/benefit: worth the shot, given what we need. Plus, they got Sweat, so how ever fucked up the front office is supposed to be (and this makes great click-bait at draft time), they did what you'd pretty much want them to do: fill the holes as best they can in the draft. Not the sexy narrative of "Crazy Danny is Back!", but decent FO moves.
Time, as always, will tell. There are no gimmes.

If he earns the job he'll start. If not, sitting for a while won't hurt.

Re: Dwayne Haskins
How many QB's have thrown for 50td's and 4,800 yards in college? How many have done that in the Big Ten? I mean this kid put up some jaw dropping numbers against good competition. He did it against the best defenses in the country. He changed protections, he sees the field pretty well. This isn't Oklahoma's conference.
If he turns out to be a bust I can't slam the front office for this one. The value at 15 simply could not be turned down. |
