If there's one plus it's that LB is probably our deepest position this season.

Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season

I cannot believe this.

I have been waiting all day (British Summer Time) to hear Shanahans interview and then to be told this!!!!

Rak IMO is better suited to a 4-3 although in a 3-4 he does a whole lot more than "sack". His coverage in the open field has improved in the couple of games i seen him in lately and we will miss him BIG style.

As other posters have put. Time to step up.

Hail!

The good out of this, we can finally see how good Rob Jackson is as a starter. Possibly call up markus white from TBs practice squad. See Chris Wilson in action. Its good evaluation for next year.

Carriker, it sucks, but remember he was being replaced by Jarvis Jenkins last preseason and Jenkins was considered by some to be the best DL on our team. That injury may be a blessing in disguise for us. Yes I agree Carriker was very stout against the run, but Jarvis is good at everything.

IMO - The 'skins are still suffering from years of front office garbage, which will take years to sort out. You dont build a franchise Super Bowl team with one 1st round pick and some FA's. It takes years of change in the organisation (which i believe we doing)

This is the 1st season we have looked anything decent and to be 1-1 is ok considering we played 2 road games and one was against the Saints. We would have taken that PRE-SEASON.

I will reserve judgement until after the Bengals game. They simply have to step up.

Hail!

Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season

Let's not forget that Nield is also on IR (and folks thought we'd be seeing good stuff from him this year too), as are Minnifield and Bernstine. To have lost two defensive starters and three depth guys -- and only 5 quarters into the season -- is pretty rough. I know injuries happen (look at the Packers two years ago), but it isn't as though we had great depth to begin with.

The person I feel sorriest for is Fletcher. He has got to be thinking that he cannot have too many more chances at a ring with the Redskins, and without saying that we were headed that way this season (that would be overly optimistic), I think this likely ensures that we'd be incredibly lucky to get to the post-season.

Time for others to step up.

Speaking of which, did Cofield not play yesterday? He's not credited for a single tackle, sack, or anything else.

Was wondering the same. Was gonna look closer on the replay but I don't think NFLN has scheduled it yet.

Supposedly Haslett really liked Kehl. I think he can play inside too.

Cofield did play. But he didn't show up for the game.

Cofield is not a NT, when he signed here he said a DT's dream is to get the center one on one. Well he is all talk because he gets that more times then not and does nuttin.

Do not be surprised to see Cofield moved to Carrikers spot and Baker inserted into the starting lineup.

I wasn't very clear about it but I was only joking. While i do believe that Both Orakpo and Carriker are huge pieces in our front seven, I don't think we'll be significantly worse without them. As long as Jenkins steps up his game some, I think the Defense will be okay.
