I'm someone who thinks Fletch should've been gone, but I don't think we have an alternative at this point. Its late in the season, we're going to and we should ride him out.

But to play devil's advocate; here are the available FA ILBs. I don't know much about these players but is there anyone on there that you all think would be capable enough to replace Fletcher?

Dan Connor
Takeo Spikes
Bradie James
Jonathan Goff
Barrett Ruud
Demorrio Williams (WLB in 4-3/ILB in 3-4)
Kirk Morrison
Tim Dobbins
Gary Guyton
Jamar Chaney (SLB in 4-3)
Niko Koutouvides
Mike Peterson (SLB)
Tim Shaw
Brandon Siler
Tavares Gooden
A.J. Edds
Brendon Ayanbadejo
Ricky Brown
Keyaron Fox
Travis Goethel
Tyrone McKenzie
Leon Williams
Kenny Onatolu (OLB in 4-3)
Brandon Johnson
Doug Hogue
L.J. Fort
D.J. Smith
Ryan Rau
Phillip Dillard
Greg Lloyd

Spikes and Lloyd, lol no they couldn't replace Fletch. Impressed by the amount of other players you found, I don't know who could have replaced London but interested to hear who.

Have zero confidence in the defense, Skins don't play well on the road and have match up issues with McCoy and D. Jackson, so this could and probably will get real ugly real fast. Calling this one

Eagles 49 (Foles throws 4 TD passes, McCoy rushes for 2 TD, and add a special teams return score for good measure, the unit is due to give one up again)
Skins 21

Re: Redskins Vs Eagles Pregame Thread

Pretty amazing -- one disheartening loss to the Vikings, and virtually no one picks us to beat a flawed Eagles team. Don't get me wrong, that may well be the case, but I think more folks picked us to beat the Packers and Broncos than the Eagles, and the Eagles aren't as good as those teams (if you assume a healthy Aaron Rodgers -- I don't believe the Eagles would have won against Rodgers).

Would folks have been more optimistic had we squeaked out a win against the Vikings? Winning in OT, while it would have had other reprocussions, wouldn't make me feel a whole lot better about our D. But as football is a game of momentum, I would probably concede that the Eagles game becomes a bit harder after last Thursday's implosion. But I don't think they blow us out. These Redskins will continue to give me heart attack potential.

Skins: 34
Eagles: 32

We tip a long field goal at the end of regulation just enough to take it off the mark and hang on for the win.

Of course, should I be wrong and should we go down in flames, I can start dreaming about next April's 1st round pick. (Oh, wait....).

Just Sick of the same bullshit every Sunday.
This is what bad football teams do.

Really frustrating. The defense is modeled after the Steelers and in their heyday blitzes from the secondary/ILB were a staple. We never had that kind of success here but our corners/safeties/ILBs showed they could get after the QB enough to impact the game.

Just another example of how poor coaching has led to underperforming players. Kerrigan/Orakpo aren't premier pass rushers, but if used as part of a whole scheme they could be special. Instead Haslett just hopes these two guys break out every game to give us a pass rush.

I can't talk about this crap without getting pissed off.
Perhaps Haslett doesn't want to leave the secondary vulnerable, so that's why he's not being aggressive. Who knows? I just think if Gregg Williams was coaching this defense, it wouldn't be this bad.

I don't see any reason why our offense doesn't put up 27-28 or more. We can win this game if we get a couple turnovers.

This is an interesting nugget, and it says something about this franchise that we hold our kickers to a much higher standard than our other players or our coaches.

It's not that we can't find a kicker, it's that any kicker we find is going to miss a few FGs. And we've decided that's unacceptable. But players/coaches that make mistakes? They just need more time. It's a weird double standard that has been here since the Cerrato days.

I fully expect us to win this one. I actually fully expect us to beat the 49ers. Gotta' build me up first if you're going to tear me down.

Seriously though, I think we win this one and win it comfortably, just so this team can confuse us even more.

I think Foles will look like garbage against us. It's McCoy I'm worried about. He's a GREAT RB, and he seems to break 120931092312093 tackles against us.

That could be it, but the secondary was worse last year IMO and he had them blitzing, along with the ILBs. And it worked, especially in the 2nd half of the season.

Was just thinking this today, things could be worse, we could be the Falcons or Steelers. Didn't realize how bad they're looking.

True, but I feel like everyone is tired of being the "best" 3-6 team out there. I feel like every year outside of 2009, we all knew we were better than our record. I think that is why everyone is so irritated.

Re: Redskins Vs Eagles Pregame Thread

I know it's unlikely, but if ever there was a season about getting hot at the right time it would be this one. I still think Dallas is one more blowout away from going into a fetal state. The Eagles, well this Sunday's game means a lot to both teams. And the Giants are like us. If either the Skins or the Giants get there act together, they both are better teams then the Eagles and Cowboys. I am still hopeful we can be the team that gets it together.
