Raiders | C. Green allegedly assaults woman
Sun, 22 Mar 2009 14:27:25 -0700 The Associated Press reports Oakland Raiders OT Cornell Green has been arrested on a domestic violence charge in Tampa (Fla.). Tampa police say Green became violent Saturday, March 21, during an argument at his home there with the mother of his two children. Police say Green slammed Teriyonal Ebony Flowers into a wall, then struck her right arm with an aluminum mop handle. Green was being held Sunday, March 22, at the Hillsborough County jail on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
I had a chick that thought that a mop was going to kill her too

sorry if joke was in bad taste, i'm very against domestic violence

BROWNS ANNOUNCE ACQUISITION OF PATTEN
Posted by Mike Florio on March 23, 2009, 10:08 p.m.

On the same day that G.M. George Kokinis indicated that the Browns would be signing receiver David Patten, the Browns did just that.

The team announced the move earlier this evening.

Patten returns to the Browns nine years after a one-season stint with the club, during which he started eleven games.

The next year, Patten jumped to the Patriots, and participated in the team’s three Super Bowl championship seasons.

Patten’s 12-year NFL career was actually preceded by a one-season stint with the Albany Firebirds of the AFL.

He spent the past two seasons with the Saints, and two seasons prior to that with the Redskins.

The Bills are met with June at the beginning of March and they're the only team I've seen a report of interest in him.

The Raiders, Ravens and 49ers met with Smith and he's close to signing with SF.

Cato June is washed up, but I wish we'd looked at Marvel Smith. Too late now, it appears.

Re: 2009 Free Agents

The Browns are apparently trying to build a replica of our 2005 offense, at least in terms of players we could have acquired.

- They recently traded Kellen Winslow, who we could have drafted in 2004.
- They have Braylon Edwards, who we had interest in back in 2005.
- To complement Edwards, they have David Patten and Robert Royal
- They will have a QB competition between Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn, either one of which could have conceivably been Mark Brunell's successor if not for Campbell.

I don't see this ending well.

Brett Favre

Coach Eric Mangini would like Brett Favre to attend Browns training camp this summer as a "guest instructor."

Favre remains under contract with the Jets, but we'll refrain from the "that hasn't stopped him before" comments. Mangini visualizes Favre helping Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson and stresses that it would be nothing "formal." It's certainly fair to question the wisdom of inviting a media circus in Mangini's first year on the job.

Heh, maybe Favre could teach Anderson how to throw a hard ball with touch.

Saints Add Another Safety
Posted by Mike Florio on March 26, 2009, 11:56 a.m.

A week or so after signing free agent Darren Sharper, the Saints are shoring up their last line of defense with another veteran safety.

According to Adam Caplan of Scout.com, the Saints have agreed to terms with Pierson Prioleau.

Prioleau will serve as a backup to Sharper and Roman Harper.

The move reunites Prioleau with defensive coordinator Gregg Williams; they have worked together in Jacksonville, Washington, and Buffalo.

In ten NFL seasons, Prioleau has played primarily as a reserve. In 2002, however, he was a 16-game starter for the Bills. And he began the 2006 season as a starting safety with the Redskins, but suffered a torn ACL on the opening kickoff of the team’s Week One game.

In Jacksonville last season, Prioleau appeared in 16 games, starting once.

Would'nt Derrick Brooks be an ideal stop gap LB, for us.

I was wondering why he is still on the market but it's like that for a reason.

My guess is that we will sign someone if we don't draft a good LB.

I like the idea of Brooks as a stop gap (one yr deal) but I don't think he would come at the min vet.

Is Koren Robinson a FA? I saw his name on a FA list but I'm not sure. If he is, then that would be a good WR to bring in if we can afford him. He is tall and fast, could help push our rookies.

He would be great as long as we don't need him to catch anything
