Gave it a B. Solid Pick that fills a need and got decent value at #16 (about where Kerrigan should've gone). Needs to lose some weight to play the 3-4 OLB Spot, but exetremely productive, hard worker, high motor, and a good character guy. This guy is a football player and the money won't change him. Safe pick, Low Risk/High Reward.

How do you figure he'll have to lose weight? At 6'4" 267lbs, he's about the perfect size to play OLB in a 3-4. Otherwise, I agree with you 100%.

This pick is a perfect example of what us Redskins fans should be getting used too. They go with the guy who they know will be a football player.

I was one of many hoping for Gabbert, but this just kind of tells you that there's no more fooling around in this organization and if they don't like the quarterbacks, they won't take them.

I really hope that the rest of the Skins draft proves you right on this point.

You are so right about the Kerrigan pick. The guy is a football player. We need more of those type of players.

Trading back to get the #49 pick: A

Picking a high motor, high character player that Parcells raved about: A

But Cameron Jordan was a better overall fit, and we could have had him with the trade back: C

Overall grade: B

Vinny's overall Redskins record: 62-82 (.430)
We won more with Vinny

Haha... It's funny you say this because I'm probably the biggest Cal fan on this website. Cal, Mizz, and OU are my teams and I follow all the players.

I must say that Cameron Jordan is not better than Kerrigan. There's just no way he's better, and he hides behind every second play it just drove me nuts. I think he fell for a reason.

Agree. I gave the Kerrigan pick itself a C, trading back, great move. If we shift to a 4-3 even better move as it maximizes the value of our current assets (I know it's not gonna happen).

The one thing I do like about the pick a bit more is in nickel/dime our front four can get after the passer. With the pick of Kerrigan, as others have said, I think it is critical to come away from the second round with Paea.

Me too, but I have faith in our front office. The only thing I'm worried about is that they continue to trade back to the point where they're just looking for more bodies on day 1. Draft the BPA that fits your scheme.

Its still odd to see someone saying they have faith in our front office and have them being serious! It's been a long time but I agree!

We're all probably willing to concede it's early in the process and there are those still fuming from the blunder of the Donovan McNabb trade still fresh in their minds. However, giving credit it's due, the kind of strategic move deployed by the FO in last night's 1st round can be viewed as nothing less than a team builder.

Keeping our draft picks and drafting wisely is the simple doctrine that inspired me to introduce a thought provoking thread of the same name. We will know with a confident degree of certainty whether we're on course when in repeated succession we like the New England's of the world have our own plethora of draft picks come draft day.

Gave it an A. Got a much needed high motor never stop defensive player and gained a second rounder. What's not to like? HTTR!

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan

I gave the pick a B. It's a solid, seemingly low risk, choice. Personally, I don't know much about him, but I like what I hear. Unfortunately, in most of the highlight videos I watch, it looks like he's coming unblocked on most of the plays in them. That concerns me some. However, even from watching highlights, you can see the guy goes 100 mph on every down; that, I really like!

I gave it a B because there are other players I would have liked to have taken here, but I don't hate the pick. I didn't like it at the time, but I'm warming up to it now.
