I think we're going to see a rotation of guys at the nose depending on the situation.

It's just all very disappointing in the end. I think saying we had nothing in Haynesworth is true in the nominal sense, but the Redskins have no one to blame but themselves from that. Unfortunately, "themselves" starts with Cerrato/Zorn/Sherm Smith, and finished with Shanahan/Allen/Haslett. Lots of people to blame for this trade, every one of them part of the Redskins coaching staff or management.

Haynesworth is responsible for being despised by his Redskin teammates, but that shouldn't have affected his trade value much.
I don't think you'll find much disagreement that this saga ended on a bad note and that it would have been much more preferable that we received an elite player in exchange for Haynesworth. When Haynesworth arrived in Washington D.C. he was an elite player. The player that New England is not an elite player. There's no way you or anyone else can convince me of that.

But...

I lay the blame at the feet of Mike Shanahan. His mismanagement of the situation devalued Haynesworth's worth and caused his stock to plummet around the league. Had we cut ties with AH much earlier, I think we could have possibly gotten a second or third rounder in return. The longer this dragged out, the less we could command in return. That along with the optics of Hayneworth flailing on the ground during the Philly game while Mike Vick made swiss cheese of our defense and getting suspended didn't help matters all.

Under the circumstances, a 5th rounder is the best we could have hoped for. The genius of Belichick is knowing when to buy and knowing when to sell. He's better than a day trader that has perfected market movements.

Cant wait for him to start to bitch and moan about wanting a new contract in NE . . . unless they restructure his contract (probably be incentive heavy).

I think that 100 million dollar contract was part of the problem. When you pay someone before they perform you ussually get disappointed.

He'd be cut or traded to Oakland very quickly.

I agree with this, but I'm glad the saga is over at least. The AH era was a lot of fun but I'm ready to move on.

I concur with the majority of the Redskin players who seem to think too much time has already been spent talking about Albert Haynesworth. Time for the positives.

The fact that we could even get any draft pick for AH is reason enough to rejoice. Same with McNabb. We probably would have released them both eventually, so something's better than nothing.

Re: Haynesworth to the Patriots for a 5th rounder.

Now we know why Belichick didn't draft a pass rusher during the draft, he had this planned all along. Haynesworth will probably have a great year like Cory Dillon and Moss did with NE when they were acquired. I'm glad the fat **** is gone and the Redskins can put it behind them and never repeat the blunders they did with McNabb and fat ****.

Re: Haynesworth to the Patriots for a 5th rounder.

IF AH regains his probowl dominating self in NE......it will make Mike Shanahan look bad. Shananhan's image as an inspirational leader and head coach will take a hit. Especially if Bellichicken shows he can take guys with troubled pasts like Randy Moss, Corey Dillon and AH and do well with them.

Yep. Wilfork is their starting NT, so AH will likely play DE, or backup.

Glad he's gone and not to Philly! Great morning!

Re: Haynesworth to the Patriots for a 5th rounder.

Woke up and found out that Fatassworth was traded and the Redskins cut Rabach.

Its a great day to be a Redskins fan.

This off season is off to a great start. Free and clear to take off towards the future now that the McNabb/Haynesworth situations have been handled.

We need to sign another offensive guard now!

Unfortunately the media is not ready to stop talking about this guy, it is all over ESPN980. I'm like, come on there are better and more relevant things to talk about. This is why I hate radio coverage in our area.
