Re: Ron Rivera Thread

Per Keim:

Ryan Kerrigan says he wants to be around. Has made it clear to his agent. My understanding is that there had been initial talks on an extension earlier this year. Has one year left on deal.

NO!!

Of course he does, he knows his value has diminished

Yeah, love his character and leadership. In principle, he's the kind of player you want on your roster - but hes on the back part of his career, and smart teams in a rebuilding mode don't give big money to guys his age.

We should trade Kerrigan and Trent Williams to contenders for whatever draft compensation we can get.

I like RK as a person and what he brings to the team in terms of showing younger guys how to take care of themself.

With that said assuming we have a 4-3 move incoming I'm not sure I see a place for him on the roster. I don't want him to bulk up to become a 4-3 defensive end, and I'm not sure I like him as an outside linebacker roaming in space most of the time.

Kerrigan was a great 4-3 DE in college. He might be a very good player at that position.

He's also 31 and just spent a decade at outside linebacker. Even if he is very good, I'm not betting on him having long term success at the position. And we're already stacked at starting ends with Ionnadis and Allen. Doubt Kerrigan wants to be a backup at this stage of his career too.

Only way I see Kerrigan staying is as an outside linebacker with more coverage responsibilities. That's not a good look for him at this stage of his career.

Smart kid!! Per Keim:

Dwayne Haskins says change can be good. But says he want Kevin O’Connell to stay. Says they were on the same page. Anticipated calls because felt like he knew what KOC was thinking. Also called Chase Young a “game wrecker”

RR will be a very good hire and won’t be bullied by Dan! With Bruce being fired and RR hired to run the Show add in the #2 pick and cap space by unloading dead weight players also core group of players WR’s especially things could improve rather quick..

With the NFC East the way it is, we have a good chance to spring out in front. That said the NFC East opponents next season are brutal.

Let's temper our expectations a little bit...we finished 3-13....like....yesterday.
I like the hire and the young talent...but this is all shit we have seen before. I wont give this team the benefit of the doubt until well into the next season. Ita just more of the same, until it isnt anymore.

My main point was that the whole NFC East is in the garbage, so if the team gets right there is good young talent on both sides of the ball to build from and a division that can be taken.

Every team is going to reload during the offseason, I wouldn't even think about what we can achieve next year before a single roster move has been made.

Cred I like you but you're talking crazy at this stage of the game. I know it's in ticket sales' best interests to get fans excited for next year but we've done this dance too many times to fall for the hype.
