Yeah, nobody's comparing the two. But one of them brings the entire offense to a standstill with his isolation preference. And the same dude doesn't even try on defense. Melo won't win a championship no matter who's on the team if he doesn't change the way he plays. Denver's playing much better team ball without him.

Put the right pieces around Lin and he has a way better chance of winning one. He elevates the play of guys like Landry Fields and Tyson Chander... and sets up Novak off penetration. There's a reason why D'antoni compares him to Steve Nash (who coincidentally made Amare and Shawn Marion look much better than any point in their careers without him). Amare and Melo play absolutely no defense- while he's not the best defensively, at least Lin tries on that end.

And that's the point. Not that Lin is a better basketball player than Melo, that he's better for his team than Melo. Carmelo Anthony is a really tough player to figure out. Sometimes he makes his scoring look effortless, others he just holds the ball and kills any possession his team was trying to have. He needs to start letting the offense come to him...maybe watch some Kevin Durant from time-to-time.
