Re: Cousins Value Skyrockets,Jets Fans Want Him!!
I think it will depend if Rex Ryan is there next year. If he is, the Jets might be foolish enough to make this trade. Ryan does not know how to evaluate talent or use draft picks, but only time will tell whether they make the trade.

Re: Cousins Value Skyrockets,Jets Fans Want Him!!
Mike Tannenbaum is the JETS general manager. I'm not sure if they discuss this kind of deal or not, but Bruce Allen would be willing to listen. Since we have needs on the offensive line, Allen might not only command a 1st or 2nd round pick for Cousins, but he'll have Tannenbaum throw in D'brickashaw Ferguson and maybe a late round pick. Ferguson could be the answer at RT. Whatever the trade would involve, it has to make the Redskins better somewhere.

As far as them getting Cousins from us, I would rather not. You need a solid backup in today's NFL. Look at Chicago this year and Indy last year. Griffen has been hurt twice and I do not see the hits slowing down. Cousins is an insurance policy. As far as the Jets are concerned I believe that they should make a play for Alex Smith. He is a mature QB who has finally come into his own and they could probably get him for less than someone like Cousins if he were to be released. Vick might also be available so the Jets will not have to look hard for a better QB. Both are solid with an effective running game would benefit the team if you can protect them. |

What a dipshit that soxx is -- if Sanchez is a D, how in the hell is Cousins a C+. If Sanchez is anything higher than an F-, Cousins is a solid B- IMO. And yes, I am considering all the experience that Sanchez has as a starter.

Re: Cousins Value Skyrockets,Jets Fans Want Him!!
If Jets offer Revis, 2nd, and 4th I'm jumping on it. You just flipped a 4th round pick for an Elite CB, another starter, and depth. Im sorry but if we had a good RT RG3 wouldn't have to scramble as much or run as much. An elite CB would help the defense which could take alot of pressure off of the offense and RG3. I believe Mike and Kyle can get and backup QB that can success for a game or 2 if needed. People y'all are talking like he is a franchise QB. And if he is a team will offer the picks or players and/or combination. Cousins was a 4th round pick for a reason. If we flip him then we won not loss. We can use a 4th on another QB.

Bottom line, there is plenty of blame to be shared but Buddy Ryan's boy is the head f*** up - everyone else is just catching the sh** spraying off the fan. Rex simply sucks as a head coach in the long term and his downfall was as inevitable as the tide receeding before the dawn. He was good for one or two years of success but then his "us against the world" BS caught up to him and now he has no one to blame but himself.

Justin Read Peter King's MMQB Tuesday edition, and even he mentioned Cousins and the Jets.

Rex may have picked Sporanno because of the success that he had with the wildcat and the running game. That is the style of offense that he wanted to play, but you still need a QB when the run isn't working. I think that the trade for Tebow was more to spark Sanchez than anything else. Sure he might have been beneficial in the Wildcat or some dysfunctional version of it, but was Rex really the driving force behind it? The answer can only be a yes or a no. If it is a "yes", then it proves that Rex didn't have much confidence in Sanchez in the first place. If it is a "no" then it proves that it was out of Rex's hands. Sure there is plenty of blame to go around when the team is losing, but he had a couple of good years and two respectable years with the team, but nothing was done to improve the players on the team. Player decisions are the responsibility of the GM. If he wanted to tell Rex no, he had every right to. Ultimately Tannenbaum made terrible personnel decisions regardless of what influence Rex had on them. Rex took his team to the playoffs with his "us against the world" attitude and they bought it. That is proof that he can motivate and coach regardless of our feelings about him. He took over a team that was third in the AFC East and has consistelty placed them second every season behind the Patriots. Rex is two wins away from his 4th consecutive season above .500. If the team does lose out it will be his first and only losing season. I do not quite see how he sucks as bad as you would suggest. |

Re: Cousins Value Skyrockets,Jets Fans Want Him!!
You can make whatever excuses you want. When Rex was first hired, I predicted this career trajectory for him - initial success and flame out. (Seriously, I was spot on with this one, look it up ... it doesn't happen often). Rex's motivational style is great initially but wears thin fast.
Also, the yes/no question pose could also have the answer "Yes" with the basis being "Yes, I am the great Rex Ryan and I can make anything work b/c I am the most brilliant motivator in the history of coaching." Rex's hubris caused him to believe he could make Sanchez into a QB and successfully incorporate Tebow into the offense. Ooops. Ultimately, he's a clown coach and always will be. He's got Shanahan's ego but not his acumen. With all that said, I give you that Tannenbaum is a clown GM and bears more responsibility than I initially implied. From everything I have read, however, Tannenbaum and Rex were in this together with Rex providing the impetus. Maybe I am wrong about Ryan, but I see nothing to dissuade me from the opinion I originally held of him. Rex has his fans who love his "in your face" style. I am not one of them - I think he is and always will be the clown coach seed that did not fall far from the thug coach tree his dad was.

Re: Cousins Value Skyrockets,Jets Fans Want Him!!
I completely agree -- Cousins is fully aware that this is RG3's team but he has the tools (or so it seems) to go start somewhere. He is wholly more competent than anyone on the roster in KC, Jacksonville, NYJ, Cleveland, and IMO Philly. I think if he wants to start, it would be wrong not to trade him. I just hope he wants to stay, learn a little more, and contribute towards a superbowl b/c he has been extremely impressive in mop-up duty behind RG3 (a lot of credit for which has to go to KS and MS)
