Then we take Luck. Works out for us.

So 2 1sts and a 2nd. I don't love that it's the 2nd this year and not the 3rd, but hey, if he ends up a top NFL QB, then who cares really? Gotta give to get.
Good post Scud. In the end it's all about the bottom line (in your post.) If he turns out to be an elite qb, nobody will care about the price we paid to get him.

And on a side note, it definitely feels good to have the qb position taken care of, hopefully for the next decade minimum.

So, two first and a 2nd. I'd be much happier with only two first round picks. I hope they're late 1st round picks......lol

3 firsts and a 2nd? GD. Not sure I agree with that, although I'm a huge RG3 fan. That's crazy. I'm pretty confident that RG3 won't be a bust but damn if that won't put us in a huge hole for the next two drafts after this one.

Three weeks ago, the Redskins thought Griffin was a good scheme fit, but mechanically flawed. Zero football games later, he's worth three ones and a two.

That's essentially the Shanaplan in a nutshell.

Think Griffin will look sharp in Burgundy. Real sharp. Just hope he plays as well as he looks.

Then you haven't been paying attention. I've quoted ES insiders several times over the course of this past year that RGIII was very high on the Skins list. This isn't something new that just came up.

What Shanny says, and what he does doesn't always equal. Two things we can deduce from this trade:

1) Shanahan believes this kid is the real deal.

2) They are desperate as hell.

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft

MY personal thoughts on this trade. First off, I want to state that I love RGIII as a prospect and wanted him here as our QB.

That said, I think they gave up entirely too much to get him and no doubt Shanahan has put his career at stake with this move. I personally think we weren't at the stage in our rebuild to make a move like this, but we'll see how this plays out over the course of the next 3 years.

My other concern with this move is the expectations and pressure that is going to be heaved on RGIII. Fans are celebrating this as if we've landed a franchise QB, but the reality of it is we haven't. We've landed a very good prospect who hasn't played a single snap of NFL football yet. We can hardly call any rookie a franchise QB until this all plays out.

RG3 has first overall pedigree on the field, not to mention he might just have the best personality/character I have ever seen from a quarterback prospect.. I truly mean that.

I see less question marks with RG3, than I did with Cam Newton.. What I'm worried about are the inevitable ACL tears.

I'm too stunned to really say how happy I am about potentially having a young stud qb on our team or how mad I am about how much of our teams future we just gave away to move up 4 spots. All I know is if we finish above .500 the next 2 years it'll have been worth it, but heaven help us if we don't. The shitstorm would be apocalyptic.

So, basically 2013 and 2014 1st round picks are gone along with this years number two.

I love Griffin.

But I am hoping that this is a mis-report, otherwise we got raped.

I agree. I am secretly hoping that they have a plan to recoup picks, like maybe trading a player or two (maybe Rak depending on what they do in FA?)
