What he has assembled is an absolute joke. Even those 90’s teams with Jeter Posada Bernie and Pettite - were not his. He did not draft them. He was gifted that team and at the time had more money than anyone so getting the Oneils, and the rest of those free agents was just too easy. Cashman is the absolute worst. Our farm system sucks. He cant draft. His FA acquisitions are always hurt and just laughs. His trades are insane. Boone is just a yes man. I don’t think he is terrible, but he isn’t great. He will be the fall guy, and they will bring in another Boone.
It is by far, without a doubt, the greatest franchise in any sport ever, and what Hal is allowing to happen to it is beyond disgusting. This team is so locked into so many bad contracts and has no farm system. They are in trouble for the foreseeable future.
Wow. I've followed the Yankees and never realized how much of as in issue Hal is. I honestly think they need a full rebuild, but doubt they swallow their pride to do it. Baltimore, Houston, Atlanta, and LA are not slowing down anytime soon.

Braves' Ronald Acuña Jr. becomes founding member of 40-70 club

Reminds me of Ricky Henderson

Congrats Punch, Yankees haven't finished below 500 in 31 years now. Insane streak. I swear Yankees and their NL counterparts the Braves never lose

Yes it is. 70 stolen bases is more impressive than 40 home runs. That is crazy. Literally he must be stealing nearly every opportunity and is successful. Best offensive player in baseball now on a stacked team.

Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread

The new rules of course helped greatly, otherwise he's probably more in the range of 40 SB. Still impressive either way.

Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread

Anything short of a world championship makes the Braves season a failure imo. The only team that might put up a fight are the Dodgers. Nobody in AL will

Baseball playoffs are the ultimate crapshoot. This season was a blast regardless imo.

BS this is as close to a code red, must win, trap WS the Braves will be in. You don't want a replay of 1998 do you?

In all seriousness I was listening to Loud Outs on Monday and they were talking about in a 3 and 5 game series there is some randomness involved but the longer series the better team wins 90% of the time. At the beginning of the 20th century they used to play 9 game series and went to 7 because there was rarely an upset. (I am curious how much gambling played a role in that).

I'd love to see Baltimore have a great post season I just don't see it. They had one hitter bat over .280 the entire season, the great Ryan O'Hearn. They are middle of the road in almost every metric offensively. Pitching is suspect at best, we are looking at Kyle Bradish, Grayson Rodriguez and John Means as the starters and losing the best pitcher in the majors to Tommy Johns in August has left a glaring hole in the bull pen. Gunnar is fun but he is going to have to start being more than a .255 hitter in the future if this team will take the next step.
