If the goverment shuts down why do national parks have to close? Do we really need someone working for people to enjoy the outdoors.

Overall disappointed with the Dems not realizing its gonna take much deeper cuts to get this thing in order, but whats new? I would be knee deep in the Pentagon's budget cutting away, state and foriegn aid, government contractors, and the government workforce as a whole-2 year freeze isnt sh*t. All earmarks need to go as well.

To hell with those rich shits. They'll still get paid, but all of us contractors get dick while they play their game. They'll still get their perks while the federal employees hope they get paid for their time out. I hate politics, and the games that go along with government.

I'm walking around my building and folks are just dragging, sad as hell, talking about whether or not we'll be here monday or not. F it, I can't help what happens it's in their hands, but **** all the people that are playing with peoples lives. Make those big companies pay some taxes and stop giving money away while they send jobs elsewhere. I'm done man, I'm starting to get upset, I'll be burning about 5 tonight !

It's not just the Dems. It's the entire system.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Do you work for the government or a contractor that does government work.

I agree with everything you said but I also think its time for the right to also fix the tax rules for large corps that get away with paying little to no taxes. While I'm the first person to say I hate taxes I feel everyone should pay their fair share. That goes for the large corporations to the poor. I also think its fine for the rich to pay a larger % but I also think that the poor also needs to pay some taxes. Everyone yells for cutting budgets but they raise hell when its their things getting cut.

It's a shame we depend on the government so much. How did this happen?

I agree. Compensating soldiers with an IOU to stare the barrel of the enemy gun seems OK to me. Carry on.

Federal Corporate tax needs to be lowered from i think like 35%, 60 minutes had a good story on it a couple weeks ago. Major companies are moving offshore to lessen their tax burden. Companies that thrive on doing business in the states move to tax shelter-like countries ie Swizzland, and reduce their tax from 35% to like 15%-25%...so we because of stupid tax law miss out on trillions. It would be nice to have that money.

I'm a contractor and my wife is a Federal Employee. This is a shitty thing, I hope they work this out soon. Everyone here is expecting to be out for about a week tops, the crazy thing is I was told earlier that I have to come in Monday to turn in the albatross they call a Blackberry, only to be sent home once it's all official.

National parks require things like maintenance and security for people and animals.

Not all contractors. One of the companies that contracts to us is going to pay up to a week's worth of salary for any employee affected by a shutdown.
They're not a small company, either.

Re: Potential Government Shut Down

That's good stuff, a week makes a hell of a difference. Mine just sent an email telling us that we need to turn in our time sheets today and made sure that we didnt forget we wouldn't get paid, lol. I sure hope we get through this soon.

My yard is going to be beautiful because of all this !
