Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

I saw Inglorious Basterds last night. Absolutely loved it. It had everything I wanted in an action movie, plenty of action, lots of dark humor - Tarantino style, plenty of gore (bullleee dat), the soundtrack was great (very similar to the Kill Bill movies), and the ending was exactly what I had been hoping for. It delivers, imo. And it lives up to the hype for me as well. It's very safe to say it's not your typical war movie.

And for what some might say is a spoiler, I'll just put a spoiler alert here so nobody has to read this in case they don't want to, it's historically innacurate. But that doesn't matter so much because the ending is great. I'm pretty sure some won't agree with me on that but that's fine with me because I still love that movie.

I have to agree with your assertion... Tarantino killed it in this one. Pace was a bit slower than his previous films, but I definitely didn't mind- I actually would have been disappointed if the entire movie would have been an over the top bloodbath (which I loved in Kill Bill, but didn't want in IB). This may sound weird, but my favorite character in the movie was the SS Colonel... dude was mad funny.

Also co-sign on the soundtrack... QT knows his music as much as he knows film. Love him or hate him, you won't find another man whose seen more movies than Tarantino- and I guess that's why I appreciate his film-making so much.,

watched last house on the left last night. pretty decent flick. but kept thinking the 2 parents acting job left a little to be desired. almost made it a B movie

I loved LHotL... it was definitely superior to the original version in every way (even Wes Craven said so- he made the OG version). The director has a really good eye and the some of the scenes were almost too realistic.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

Went and saw Taking Woodstock friday, ended up walking out probably at the best part of the movie,it was near the end,but I had already wasted too much of my time on it.If you like documentarys, then you might like it,although thats not what its suppossed to be.What it was was boring as hell.I like Demitri Martin, good comedian, but he was just bland in this movie, not a bad acting job, just boring, and seeing him french kiss another guy was not my cup of tea either.
Im about 3/4 through with watching State of Play with Rus Crowe and Ben A,so far im thinking its a great movie, conspiracy movie, and i love that kind of shit.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

Saw Julie & Julia with the wife over the weekend and I actually liked it. Could have done without the Julie part of the story though, Julia Child (Meryl Streep does an amazing job) had an interesting enough of a story and life to carry a full movie.

Me too. I have a feeling Damon will kill it in a role like that.

I also can't wait to see The Road, which I think finally comes out next month. I read the book almost 2 years ago and for whatever reason I pictured Viggo Mortensen as the main character so I'm really looking forward to actually seeing him play the part.
