I read the other day the POTUS controls the DC national guard .. but then mayor called in 300 national guard yesterday to stand by.

Now im hearing trump is declining to activate the DC nationl guard.

No SC packing .. which im happy about. But now justice Breyer can retire and we dont have to watch McConnell hold up Biden's nomination for 2 years. One big fear of a Biden presidency but Rs holding the Senate was that if a justice dies and then Mitch holds up the nomination for a year or more. If that happened, the moment the Ds had Presidency and Senate, id be hardcore for packing the SC with like 25 justices. make it a true mockery at that point.

Dem controlled senate can confirm federal judges in 2 hours thanks to mitch.

Virginia and Maryland should have a bidding war to decide what state Washington D.C. becomes a part of. It is too small to be it's own state.

If we're just creating new states, all conservative states should split into as many small states as possible. Northern Northern California should succeed from Cali too, same with parts of Oregon, Washington, etc. Then liberal states do the same.

It will be like Oprah, you get a state, you get a state, and you gets a state, everyone gets a state!!!

I hear ya ... tough call. if we are just going by population ... DC has a 684k population, thats more than Wyoming with 578k and Vermont with 626k.

DC residents having to pay federal taxes but having no representation in the House or Senate just seems to go against our whole Boston tea party "no taxation without representation" mantra.

From day one I said my support was for policies that I support. I still support those policies. I have also said from day 1 that Trump is an idiotic megalomaniac. I also said that being in Maryland, my vote counts for shit in both the primary and presidential election when it comes to the Republican nominee. That is still true. I said after the election that he lost, and that was that.

On Jan 20th if Trump doesn't leave office, arrest him, charge him with treason and trespass. That is how our system has worked, and will work for some time more. (To be fair, when I was in the army in 1994, I told several fellow MP's that I didn't think the democracy would last another 100 years - I only feel that stronger now).

What the rioters are doing now is disgraceful and illegal, and they should be treated accordingly.
