Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
I'm now going to start a campaign for UDFA QB Adam Froman...so I can get a jersey that says A.Froman (I won't put any spaces on the jersey)

Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
I think we need to look to our draft picks to see who we will get in FA. I think Jarvis Jenkins we are looking to play NT in the not too distant future. Signing Franklin would require a long term commitment, which just wouldn't make sense to us.
Shanahan likes his own which makes Ryan Harris a good candidate to sign. I think Shanny wants winners/good locker room guys to change the culture of our club so I'm thinking James Jones would be a good signing (probably going to overpay for him though). All other WR's are older, or have some sort of red flag or question mark regarding them. Thinking along those same lines, I think we will offer Jenkins a contract, but I do not think it will be as long term as Jones's, but I think it will be a rich contract. We already signed Otagwe so I don't see us signing another secondary member. I do think we will be aggressive in re-shaping our team this year. Carlos WILL NOT be back (I think we will re-sign buchanon). I doubt Moss will (why would he opt out of a rich contract if he didn't want to move?), and Rocky will only be here for the long run if we get lucky and nobody offers him the right deal. To sum it up our core players I predict will be gone and I expect us to be aggressive to get what we want in FA to accomplish things that will help us out in the short term, and help change the culture without taking up too much cap space a few years down the road on old guys. |

Philly could go all in this year. Still I really hope they improve the D. I'm chomping at the bit to get revenge for the Monday Night beat down.

Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
I don't think were gonna get DeAngelo Williams like id really hoped because we picked up 80 rbs in the draft....
WE MUST resign Santana of course. But to be honest, id take Randy Moss or Plaxico Burress. If either could keep they're mouth shut, accept they're roll, accept how the QB/teams doing whatever they're doing, they'd be a great pickup.

Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
A Possible Destination For Santana Moss
Posted on June 9, 2011 by Rich Tandler Free agent wide receiver Santana Moss has said that he wants to return to the Washington Redskins in 2011 and beyond. “My first choice is to stay in Washington,” Moss told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk in February. He has repeated that sentiment to others since then. And there are many reasons to believe that the Redskins would like to retain Moss’ services. Although they drafted three wide receivers in April, rookie wideouts are slow to develop. If Moss departs, the Redskins leading returning receiver would be Anthony Armstrong, who has 871 career receiving yards. But the Redskins knew that Moss would be a free agent when his contract voided in February and they did not make him an offer he couldn’t refuse prior to the lockout. This makes me wonder how competitive an offer the Redskins will make when the time comes. It seems likely that Moss will have alternatives. On Rotoworld, Evan Silva predicts that Moss will end up with the Patriots. Another potential suitor is the Bears. A segment on the Bears’ official website, senior writer Larry Mayer wrote the following in response to a question about Moss. When you hear about receivers who are due to become free agents, his name is rarely among the first few mentioned. But he has been highly productive, averaging 81 receptions for 2,251 yards and three touchdowns the past three seasons for a Redskins team that has struggled at the quarterback position. Moss has said that he wants to re-sign with Washington, but I see no reason why the Bears wouldn’t at least consider taking a look at him unless they feel he’s too similar in size, stature and style to receivers such as Johnny Knox and Devin Hester who are already on their roster. To be sure, this is speculation in response to a question on the writer’s part and he is not reporting that anyone in the Bears organization has expressed any interest in signing Moss. The point here is that a lot of teams could use a good receiver like Moss. The return of Santana Moss is not entirely up to the Redskins. From what Moss says it appears that he will be willing to give the Redskins a hometown discount, perhaps a substantial one. But it appears that the Redskins are no longer going to engage in bidding wars, especially against themselves. While I would say that right now the odds favor a Moss return, Redskins fans should be prepared to see him in a different uniform in 2011.
