Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
Every Twitter draft expert is going to be coming up with something to nit pick all of these guys. Or come up with something to make their guy look good.
Here is the thing. So much of a QB having success is where he goes and what coach he gets with. I remember Lamar being picked by Baltimore and everyone including myself never thought he'd become the player he has become. Just cause someone may not be good at reading coverages doesn't mean it stays that way. Or just cause someone isn't great off schedule doesn't mean it stays that way. Or just cause someone has injury issues doesn't mean it stays that way. Number one... can a QB play from the pocket is what's MOST important. That's number ONE. The other stuff is second and third. You will never win w/ a QB that can't read, anticipate and beat a defense on 3rd down. That will never ever change. |

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
Yeah, our defense is dog-ass too lol, and those guys are possible 1st round picks. But I totally understand wanting to go BPA at OL in round 2.

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
If a 1st round grade player falls to second definitely take him. I am big fan of taking the BPA every single time. Especially with a defense as soft as Brillat Savarin

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
Penix not being able to finish 4 straight seasons prior to this one is a BIG concern for me. We have had enough injured Rookies for my lifetime!! My list:
Williams Maye Daniels Nix McCarthy Penix Sanders Ewers Travis in that order . . . |

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
I would pick Drake Maye over any other QB in the draft. It's not even close. He'll be more of a pocket passer than any of the others. Williams is a smaller 6'1" QB who is going to struggle being a pocket passer. My guess is they tailor that offense to his skillset much like the Eagles/Ravens do for their QBs. Granted, the shelf-life on those QBs is much lower than pocket passers and we continue seeing that every year.
Also, Lincoln Riley runs a high octane offense that puts up gaudy numbers. Hell, at ECU, he had two WRs that broke the NCAA reception records. TWO at small East Carolina University. All his QBs look great in his offense. (Baker/Murray/Williams)

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
I'm very interested in seeing what Penix does against the best defense in CFB.

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread
My gut tells me Michigan wins, but if Penix puts up 30+ points on that defense...
Like Jim alluded to, I haven't been watching him this year, but he's growing on me. |
