A full season seems harsh... But I understand the $ logic of it. I even think the partnerships with betting compagnies may have factored into the punishment's harshness. They are sending a message both to the players (+ all NFL employees), "don't do this", and to their new business partners, "we will do everything to protect the integrity of the game, nobody will be scamming you in any way". Not saying this is morally fair. But I don't expect a multi billions $ business to have moral standards.

This suspension is a warning to others.
The punishment doesn't fit the crime. But the owners and Goodell don't give 2 shits about the players so 🤷.

This shouldn't come as a surprise. They just can't have players, coaches, refs, basically anyone directly involved in the on field action that could possibly call into question the legitimacy of the outcomes of the games.

Players betting on the game is a totally different animal and one where they have no choice but to drop severe punishments as a deterrent and for public perception. Does the message really get across if they suspended him for a couple of games? |

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Looks like we are parting ways with Collins:
@RapSheet Sources: The Washington #Commanders are expected to release star defender Landon Collins after the two sides did not agree on a restructured contract. Collins will now hit free agency to cash in again. I like what he did as a hybrid player, I have a feeling he insists on being a true safety.
