Re: Darrell Green does not support Redskin name change

Yes the letter is awesome, and honestly it is how I thought he felt all along. Deeply connected to the team and the name, and a source of fond childhood memories between him and his father. He loves this team and all the guy wants to do is win. I may not have agreed with his first ten years but his current hands off approach is working or at least trying to work, and with this issue being a center of attention, having him as the owner means we will never have to worry about the change.

Re: Darrell Green does not support Redskin name change

Dan is a TRUE Redskins fan that grew up during the era of George Allen, Jack Pardee, Joe Gibbs and others. He understands winning and losing, knows what being a true Redskins fan (never giving up whether winning or losing) he knows the teams history and tradition, the rivalries, the anthem, the band. I and I'm sure most of you feel like he does, the name change would be like taking the soul from the team. Think about it, no more Redskins vs. Cowboys, no more HTTR fight song, etc.. Ask yourself as a Redskins fan, is that what you really want? Thank you Dan and I hope that you don't cave in to the PC douchebags.

Why do we keep shutting down and starting various name change threads?

Mods, with all due respect this is and will continue to be an ongoing topic and at times annoying topic, but can we chill with the stop start business and let one roll on for however long it takes? It's important.

By the way, I LOVED Snyder's letter to the fans and felt that he finally struck the right sentiment.

We stopped one, because a) it was already several pages long b) it was taking a stupid/dangerous turn c) there was no new news.

Dan Snyder's letter is new news so it should have been started as a new thread, in my opinion, instead of bumping this one. But it's fine here. Better than in the Dallas Week thread.

But I don't know what you mean about shutting down and starting various name change threads.

What about changing the name to the Dragons? A dragon would be a badass mascot. Also, the branding and merch could include some really cool logos. Also we could keep the b&g color scheme.

In folklore from around the world, dragons bring prosperity to places where they are reverenced. They also are ferocious when crossed. If we MUST change, it sounds like a great mascot to me.

I could have started a new thread i suppose. I felt like the letter sort of gave closure because it really put to rest any feelings i had of it being politically incorrect or hurtful. Starting a new thread seemed counter productive to putting it to bed i guess.

Burgundy & Gold can stay no matter what. Why would the colors ever have to change?

Plus Khaleesi from game of thrones likes dragons and she is smoking hot.

excuse me sir...but with all due respect internet stranger, you are a grown man. Why would you want a kiddies fictional mascot. Look, I wouldn't mind if they changed the name as long as it was still indian oriented and they kept the logo.

the problem I think of is they would make them get rid of any indian theme all together which I find offensive in itself.

I don't want Washington Redskins stuff to become collectors items I cant get a hold of because I don't have enough money because someone equates it with gay bashing or racism or whatever
