Bottom line is this: Coles doesn't want to be here! This isn't Snyders' fault, isn't Vinny's fault, and isn't Gibbs' fault. Anyone who agrees with Pastabelly needs to rethink their position. This offense does throw the deep ball when the receivers are open....with Coles' toe injury, he wasn't able to get open downfield alot -- so I wouldn't say that the offense is completely to blame. Sure, he'd get a few more passes in a pass oriented offense, but so what?

If this team wants to be a consistant playoff team and win championships, you're going to have to at least start by having players who WANT to play here and believe in the system. I don't care how good they are, if they don't believe in the system, they're not going to play to the fullest of their abilities.

I also don't believe that Gibbs would have just cut Coles out right. Give him a little more credit than that! That would be a stupid a move....certainly if the Skins' can trade him for a player they need....maybe another decent center and a couple draft picks, they would try to go that route.

For the most part, most of the team does believe in the system and wants to stay.

The rationale that you don't want an unhappy player in the locker room, especially in the case of Coles, is vastly overrated. Coles is a player, a guy who will show up every Sunday, even when he isn't getting the ball enough. Word is that the football people in Washington, including Gibbs, aren't thrilled with Snyder's hair-trigger decision to jettison Coles, and, if that's the case, no one can blame them. Snyder operates under the theory that the grass is always greener, that you make yourself better by bringing in a busload of new players every spring, that free agency is his personal shopping mall. In the NFL, though, the franchises that most often succeed over the long term are the ones that give their own grass a little time to mature.

are you kidding me? Santana Moss hasn't lived up to expectations. I mean, i won't be satisfied until he takes a pass 99 yards for a touchdown. Only then can he be considered adequate.

Yeah Coles clearly has never recovered from that toe injury. He just doesnt run with the same speed that he did...and the proof is in the pudding. His first three years as a starter he averaged over 14 yards per catch. Since the injury? 10.6 with us and 11.1 so far this year with the Jets again. I wonder if thats enough evidence for him to finally have that surgery that he needs...
