Looked up the stats and you're right that he was injured and out for 5 games in the middle of the season. He had one good game 3 against TBay (6 catches, 124 yards) and a 5 catch, 66 yard game against Carolina in game 2, and a 4 catch, 34 yard game in the final game of the season against Houston. Other than those three games he didn't catch more than two balls or get more than 33 yards in his other 8 games.

I think freddyg12's assessment is dead on.

No matter how many acrobatic catches he makes, he doesn't catch the ball well inside, and in traffic. Sure he'll make a great catch when he can extend up w/a defender on him, but he doesn't make that many grabs when a db is lurking behind him.

He might've been able to high jump, triple jump, pole vault or run hurdles (don't know if he has that kind of speed though). He's gifted athletically but he's not a football player, doesn't seem to have the drive or the instincts for the game. The fact that he still is playing says something about his natural ability, but I don't think his natural ability is such that he could be a top nfl reciever if he wanted to. I think he could be much better than he is, but he'd never be "great."
As we all know it takes a lot more than natural ability to play the game.

He's never been a good route runner, in fact in that area he's pretty piss poor.

His hands are iffy, and my guess is he's not a student of the game when it comes to watching film.

Ability can get to you the NFL, but after that hard work and dedication to your craft is what seperates the chumps from the quality players.

I'll take a less talented guy who works his ass off over a clown like Lloyd any day of the week.

I've really gotten tired of the connotation of the word "athlete" over the years. It's become synonymous w/speed & leaping ability only. There are guys that have athletic ability that are not particularly fast & they can't jump out of the gym.

I agree, a guy like thrash is the anti-Loyd; willing to do whatever it takes. James Thrash is/was a football player. Loyd just happens to play football cause he can get paid.

Lloyd has a really good agent and should be thankful that he does!

Essentially, this is a perfect description of the Brandon Lloyd conundrum. You see the highlight reels, and you think that there's no way that this guy doesn't have all the talent in the world. But that's the thing: he's never shown a single skill outside of the ability to make seemingly miraculous catches in one on one situations where his position should be much, much better anyway.

Bottom line is that the Redskins did not miss anything on Lloyd. It's true that his season with the Bears would have bested anything he actually did here, but he remains one of the worst "regulars" in the NFL, and we're better without him than with him.

Ha! this is funny. His best yrs were in San Fran. 49er fans warned us about him saying he has issues and would not live up to his billing. He didn't. We let him go. He goes to Chicago and doesn't live up to his billing. What 1 TD. LOL. Now he's with Denver? I guess they are hoping he will live up to his billing....lol. How many more teams will he be on before everyone agrees he's not better then some of the camp fodder that shines during preseasn but gets let go. Can you say...."Over rated."

Yeah, I had it in my head that he played better than that. Although, for the record let me clarify that I was not arguing he's a good player.

Well - he still has not played for Oakland yet so once he gets picked up by Oakland you will know that that will be his last season officially.

I guess it tells youn have bad the bears WR corps was with Lloyd playing alot. Oh i forgot that got a make shift WR in Devin Hester who was the best Return man in football. The word for B. Lloyd is soft.
