Agreed.

Also one more thing, Mods: Why do we have to wait 30 seconds between searches? Is this a VBulliten thing? I think the main reason a lot of guys don't use the search tool around here is the ability to only complete 2 searches per minute. Plus some poeple have trouble SPILLING on this site.

Anyway back to topic. If its between drafting Limas Sweed and trading for Chad Johnson I'll trade for Chad Johnson. Hell maybe we could throw in S. Moss and a 2nd round pick instead of giving away a first.

The thing that a lot of us are going to learn real soon is that this is the beginning to a new era and players that were inexpendible before are now expendible. Guys like Clinton Portis and S. Moss are going to get long looks this offseason, though I doubt anything will happen with Portis.

Because when a big piece of news come out, it better serves the site to have it easily accessible in it's own thread. If you put it in an old thread, it simply bumps to the top, but many readers won't even bother opening it because they'll think it's the same old tired discussion.

Besides, the discussion changes dramatically when you have legit news sources tying Snyder to Chad than when you simply have fan speculation.

I'd say if we overpay on one of these two guys at least it is one of these two guys. Both can still play and are among the top 5 in the league at their positions when healthy. It is better than chasing an over the hill mega star looking for one more big pay day.

I love this, when Portis comes to play for the Redskins, just about everyone is yelling, "SYSTEM BACK!!!!!" Now he is back in the system that got him that label and now he wont do good!!!! I am in no way call you out Qball, but I knew it was bound to happen... Either way Portis, IMO, is an ultimate back, he proved him self in the West Coast Offense then came here to Washington and proved himself as a pounder. Not only that he can block and catch. One of the last do-it-all backs in the league. I think that he will transition into the WCO with no problem. And he may even go back to putting up those dubble digit TD's and 1,500 plus yards...

Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

My major concern would be what happens when they don't get the ball? JC is not a top QB in the league. Would CJ be happy w/ 70 catches? I don't think so. Would he become a problem if we don't win? Maybe.

I like CJ as a reciever, he's a hard worker, but I get a little tired of his antics. I'm an old school guy and i'd rather see a Art Monk guy, an LT guy, not a CJ overthetop endzone celebration.

With that being said 1400 yards and 15 TD's would go a long way. It's just a risky move. If we get a Randy Moss trade (4th rounder) for CJ it would be tough to pass up though.

You are right when you said that JC is not a top QB in the league but dont you think that it may help him develop if he gets a top notch WR?

He's a favorite of mine. My question was does anyone feel that he could be in danger? Like would he be traded or released? I hope not love Portis as a skin. Doesn't Denver produce RB's though? We happen to land a really good one from them.

You are right that Denver can produce RB's but I really don't see the Redskins getting rid of a proven WCO RB. My only reserve with Portis is this, did he shorten his career by playing in Gibbs system?

Who the hell cares if a guy scores a TD and walks off like he's been there before, or if he scores a TD and pulls out a cell phone and calls his mom to say hi?

It still counts for 6 points doesn't it? People are getting WAAAY too carried away with this crap. Hard work and production are what matters most. Everything else is secondary... WAAAY secondary.

Either way at the end of the day I say get CJ or Moss, I pretty sure that Campbell can hit either one deep. Also, I think having a top 5 WR will help Campbell develop into a much better QB...

Yeah, a WR like CJ will open up everything for us. He's also a much better red zone threat than anybody we have here.

He'll take defensive attention away from other receivers and Cooley. It will give defenses fits. You can't cover both a healthy CJ and a healthy Santana Moss without a Cover 2 (unless you've got Charles Woodson and Al Harris). And Cooley is made to gash a cover 2 over the middle.

Nevermind the fact that Portis will never see an eight man front again in his life.

The entire offense becomes very hard to gameplan for. Campbell will automatically produce better numbers without even improving the accuracy of his throws.

Granted, it would take time for CJ, Moss, Cooley, ARE, and JC to master the West Coast. But once they do, they'd be a fierce offensive unit.

Yeah, maybe, but you have to watch out that it's not goint to hurt his growth as a QB. If CJ doesn't see the ball for a half or a game i'm not sure it would help JC to have a reciever blow up on him. That's all I'm saying. It's risky.

Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

It sounds like there's more to CJ's behavior than just a passion for winning & celebrating. He's been gradually acting more selfish. The first publicity I remember of it was when the host bengals lost to the evenutal SB champ steelers in 05-06. At halftime of that game it was reported that he threw a tantrum & had to be restrained.

Since then it seems the sideline arguments & overall complaining have increased. He's nowhere near the problem child TO is, but his behavior, as noted by JLC, has alienated teamates. It's too easy to say all the bengals are to blame. Sure, they've had a lot of problem players as far as off field stuff goes, but none of them appears as selfish on the field.
