Re: Tanard Jackson Suspended by the NFL per Jay Glazer

So refresh me here;

Tanards suspended for the year for something he recently did while he was on the redskins that we didn't know about till now, or he did this a long time ago, MS DS and BA knew about this risk and now its official?

and what is 'this' that he's being suspended for? Marijuana? PCP? blow? steroids?

Jeez, Reed Doughty, Bernstine are our best bets at FS. That or Madieu Williams...........We have to get some recently anointed free agents in here quick before they get scooped up. There has to be a serviceable FS out there somewhere that can be a bandaid type starter until we draft one next season or trade for one. I say we put Deangelo Hall on the block and trade him for a starting FS. Him or dangle Jamaal Brown see if we get any bites..............

But whatever they do decide to do, this news is definitely NOT GOOD in any way. And with the way Jackson was looking in practices and preseason games, there is no way that Gomes is better. Jackson outclasses him in every aspect of the game, sorry.

Madieu has started at FS most of his career, Gomes is the backup FS.

It seems that instead of universities and scouting from other teams, the redskins instead choose to recruit from halfway houses and NA meetings.

I thought I saw gomes playing bother FS and SS in the preseason games. Regardless, I am wondering who is going to wrap up the starting nod. To tell the truth, I hope the person is not currently on the roster, just for the fact that our secondary is so shallow.

We should have learned our lessons with drug addicts, but I guess not. I will say that I REALLY hope that we have learned our lesson about moving a SS over to the FS slot, but who knows, our current roster options are less than dirt in my mind.....

the sky is falling!

seriously, this sucks, but it's not like we were expecting him to be a pro-bowler this season. are crappy secondary will be a bit worse now. I don't think we need to go sign someone else just to sign them. unless they'd actually help us a good bit, it'd be a pointless, reactionary move.

I'm pretty sure the Skins have contingency plans. Jackson wasn't particularly a stellar player and we knew he enjoyed recreating more than playing football. I would cut him and move on.

Exactly. It just went from bad to really bad. I'm sure we can find someone that was released that was just as good.

but what helps out a crappy secondary..a great pass rush, and we may have that with our LBs and DL

thing that is also troublesome is that Meriweather has been out with injury...hope he is ready to play.

At this point, M. Williams at FS, Meriweather at SS. Gomes backing up FS, Reed backing up SS, And Bernstine kinda the insurance for at both spots. Not ideal, but I do like the fact we got 2 young guys still learning and improving and Reed another vet. Id say its a no brainer and cut T Jax.

I'm with you. Boo friggin hoo. The Giants were ranked 28 in pass Defense last year. What did they do again? And the Pats were second to last in overall D and the 14-2 Packers were dead last.

We need to score points. Period. End of story.

Re: Tanard Jackson Suspended by the NFL per Jay Glazer

you know what can really help a team that scores alot of points??????

A formidable defense. See patriots of early 2000 - 2007.
See colts when they finally won their superbowl. Their DEFENSE turned it on. See steelers, twice. See Ravens. See 80's niners.

Defense helps. Its the difference between Tom Brady dropping 6 TDs on you, or only 3. DIfference of a runningback having a 175 yard day with 2 tds, to a RB having 96 yds and 1 td. It matters. Alot.

People are going to throw on us all damn day this year. Unless we can somehow pull a rabbit out of a hat with our secondary.

and don't forget that the giants "happened" to back into the playoffs, and their DEFENSE carried them all day in the playoffs.
