Key words there are "Intial disability claims" most all applicants are rejected for something the first time the paper work is filled out.

Full disclosure I work for Social Security. It’s not easy to obtain disability benefits as the initial denial rate indicates. No, people aren’t automatically denied the first time around. Yes, there is a significant rate of approvals through the appeals process but you’re looking at a good 1-2 year wait to get through that process.
So bottom line, it’s not easy to get on disability.
