Re: Sam Howell Traded
It's not bad compensation, but I'd rather have Howell than Mariota. It's obvious they are drafting QB this year.

Re: Sam Howell Traded
The problem is they didn't have the right pieces in place for him to succeed. You can't throw a rookie QB out there with a shitty OL and expect good things to happen. All it does is just ruin any talent you have. If they do the same thing with the next QB we draft, you'll see the same results.

Re: Sam Howell Traded
I agree with Jim on this. Under our system we ran, none of them would have done any better. The protection wasn't there. That's why you don't play young QBs unless you can protect them.

Re: Sam Howell Traded
Sam got a raw deal….bad Oline, bad offensive coaching and bad organization when he entered, would have been tough for any rookie QB.
I wish him success like I did Cousins when he left. It’s time to move on and like others on the team, they will find out like Sam did, they weren’t the choices of this current regime…and if and when they leave or get demoted, cut, etc….we will have to accept that. It’s a new day

Re: Sam Howell Traded
He had his knee injured in his rookie season because his OLine couldn't block, by Jon Allen if I recall. Missed a large part of the season. They then started putting major resources into building the OL. Who knows how that will effect the longevity of his career.

Re: Sam Howell Traded
we are all arm chair QBs
Adam Peters is a professional and one the best at his job Adam decide to trade SH for basically a wash or slight upgrade and the only team to draft him was us in the 5th round by a notoriously bad talent evaluator in RR that is all you need to know about SH chances of being a franchise QB; he will be a solid back up for yaers and honestly that is pretty damn good for a 5th rounder

Re: Sam Howell Traded
Part of me wishes they would have kept Sam rather than sign Marcus. It's probably only because I was hoping he would work out. But obviously the new staff valued Marcus (at up to $10 mil) over Sam (at less than $1 mil), and that says all you need to know.
