It should guide you and only you as well as it should only affect YOU and only YOU. It's when your religion starts stomping on the rights of others because you deem it a sin. If it is a sin, god will judge him. These very people who profess to be religious are breaking their own rules just so they can squash something they deem wrong.

I suggest you view that youtube video I posted of that pastor speaking. Allow a man of god to explain it to you.
I guess you missed my point. I don't think there is a youtube video that will explain it.

I didn't miss your point, and that video was posted to squash any such notion that religion should be apart of this vote. You have a man who preaches the word of god telling you otherwise.

I don't think people are ignorant just because my they don't agree with my views. I could care less about your views on homosexuality. This isn't about homosexuality. This is about giving rights to individuals. Plain and simple.

What merits are there to debate about marriage? Whatever it is, I'm quite positive it leads back to *gasp* religion. Which is exactly why I've said what I've said. Voting for ones rights, doesn't mean you are voting in favor of homosexuality. Voting in against this amendment doesn't make you any less of a Christian.

Did you even watch the video? I'll be amazed if you actually did.

See NC thats how its done.

Re: North Carolina passes same-sex marriage ban

I was actually hoping they would pass it. In fact I want laws, at least proposed that are worse then amendment 1.

Look heres the deal. Gay marriage is a ticking time bomb that is going to go off in the near future (10 to 20 years). Sucks for the people that want to get married now and the people that need benefits but eventually it's not going to even be a fight. The younger generation is increasingly progressive and won't be stupid enough to give homophobia a leg to stand on.

I want the homophobes to keep on spitting out more and more of their hypocritical nonsense. I want soundbites galore. "Protecting marriage" while getting divorced at a rate over 50%. Being pro-life but not wanting gay couples to adopt children and give them a home.

As Romney likes to say, the 'market will correct itself.' I want it to become so ridiculous to buy into homophobia that when the time comes to strike it down it will be like taking a hot knife to butter.

Enjoy your time in the sun Amendment 1 supporters. It's almost over.

Well they said that in NC it would come down to a 50/50 vote and would be very close. Well it won with something like 62 or 64 % of the vote so you might be wishing for the wrong thing. I also lioke how you feel the need to call people who don't agree with gay marriage "homophobes". That's straight out of the left wing hand book. If they don't agree with you call them names.

Why else would they vote for ammendment 1? Gay marriage was already illegal but that wasn't enough so they took it a step furthered and stripped away the rights provided by Civil Unions. If it isn't homophobia I don't know what it is.

The thing that makes me sick though is that this is religion getting involved in government and this is the type of stuff that separation of church and state is suppose to stop.

I have not heard a single argument from another person against gay marriage that isn't based on religion and divine mandates.

The rest of the world is laughing at us while we keep beating our chest calling ourselves the land of the free. In the short term it makes me sick and pissed off but I have realized that it's getting within striking distance now and within 10 or 20 years that 39% vote will become the 61% if not more.

Remember the majority of people in the south were against interracial marriage all the way through the Civil Rights. Those people who "disagreed" with interracial marriage are now called racist. Just like the people who "disagree" with gay marriage if not now will eventually be referred to as homophobes. Just for reference think back to how people who supported separate but equal have been remembered.

Quote:
“all marriages between a white person and a Negro or between a white person and a person of Negro descent to the third generation inclusive are, hereby, forever prohibited.”
And this pattern has repeated itself through history. Women's sufferage, slavery, basic human rights for women like owning property. Heck at one point gay sex was illegal in 49 states. Majorities were against those same issues. Doesn't make them right.

Nice find NC. Although anytime I hear someone quoting Rush, I automatically think of this.

Also if anyone else wants to use the Rush template here you go.

Whether people agree with it or not, I just cannot fathom why other people should be afforded less rights than others. That's the bottom line.

I mean take POLITICS out of it even, it's just a basic human right.

Re: North Carolina passes same-sex marriage ban

You say less rights but they can marry a person of the opposit sex like us, so they do have the same rights. People could say you want to grant them additional rights. So while we are at it I want to have the right to marry 3 women.

And you should be able to. As long as everybody is a voluntary, willing, adult participant, there should be no restrictions.

Why there are so many people who think that adults engaging in consentual acts with other adults need the approval or permission of other adults in a country that calls itself "free" is baffling.
