Deleted my Instagram account last night. Back to no social media besides LinkedIn. I feel re-liberated. Social media is just not for me.

Thinking about cutting the cord - any advice? Not worried about all the shows I enjoy as I can find that with streaming, I am worried about losing Commanders/Caps games though. If I get Youtube TV with the Sunday Ticket would they blackout Commies games because I'm in market? Not sure best deal to watch Caps games either.

MASN is what you lose ; so national games will be hard to come by

If you do the Hulu Live subscriptions with Disney and EsPn Plus ; so much sports

I am shocked folks still have cable

I'm in Va and I get the games on regular TV with Youtube. With you tube you get your local channels.

Awesome, thanks dude. Yeah cable is just too expensive now, we have tv/internet bundle with FIOS and the internet is fine but bundle-wise we split $240 payment a month. We gotta find a better option.

You must be out of market mred, Monumental Sports (aka the Leonsis media machine) bought out CSN rights to the Wizards/Caps. The Nats are still on MASN, they're still in that heinous media dispute with that massive cunt Angelos from Baltimore.

I would be more upset about losing MASN if the Nats were fielding a competitive team, but all they got right now is a bunch of young unknowns and a rebuilding team. The Wizards are one of the worst teams in the NBA and I basically watch the Caps to see if Ovi will break Gretzky's goals record - they are long in the tooth and aren't competing for the cup anytime soon. Once Ovi retires they're due to rebuild too. I like Spencer Carbery as a HC but he's got an old man roster in a young man's game. So for now I basically watch hockey and football.

Re: advice for cutting the cord

I'm officially a cable-cutter now. Not due to the cable, but due to Bally being in bankruptcy. They couldn't reach whatever deal they both lie about, so I couldn't watch the Braves games. Which is by far my most important need for cable. So had to cancel and sign-up for Fubo streaming. Going to save about $50/month.

I was paying $240 for comcast/xfinity cable and internet. For internet only, I'm down to $94, but Fubo with Bally for the Braves is $100. So actually only saving a little less than $50. The guy on the phone didn't even mention what I'm supposed to do with the equipment. Guess I'll have to drop it off at an actual local xfinity store.

Re: advice for cutting the cord

I’ve tried everything and each service would double in price after a few years forcing me to try something new.

My breaking point was not being able to get the same channels on different services. No nfl network on direct streaming!

A friend has a router box that is able to stream damn near every channel and pay per view events. All nfl games available without blackouts.
All regional abc, nbc, cbs, and fox are available.
He claims I can watch dc news from it.

I don’t own one because that would be illegal but I hear they are on sale for $350 flat fee and typically arrive within a week.

It’s too risky for me, the streams could be shutdown and he is out $350 but he’s a year in without issue. MLB and ballys channels are all listed as well.

Wouldn’t want to post a link here. Might bring heat to the site and it’s illegal.
Not sure what I’m talking about anymore

i use to jailbreak my amazon firesticks, there so much gray in the law as far as streaming goes they really would never do anything to you, it becomes more of a ethical issue

at this point the only people i know that still uses cable tv box sets are all over 80

what is funny back in the day everyone would complain that the cable company would force you into packages and you pay for channels you really didn't want

now with streaming services you can al cart it but everyone complains now there are too many choices and its confusing

its a lose/lose

i just pay for the best internet i can get in my area (FIOS) then i keep a spreadsheet of my streaming services and turn on and turn off services as i need them

the best deal i have come across and gets about 90% of what i need is the hulu/disney/espn bundle as an added bonus you get espn plus on the web site as well
