Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke

There is no reason not to give Kyle Allen a chance. Sure, he might be just as bad or worse. But he might be better. He was playing decent before he got hurt. Give the man a chance.

I do not trust your qb evaluation skills - Allen wasn't playing decent last year either. But at least if he's worse than we can just ride out the year to a higher draft pick.

Last year:

69% completion %
4 to 1 TD/Int. Ratio
74.5 QBR

https://www.pro-football-reference.c...A/AlleKy00.htm

Limited sample size, but way better than Heinicke this year. And I think that definitely qualifies as decent. Heinicke this year is 41.8.

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke

"I thought I played pretty well. I thought we moved the ball really well," Heinicke said when asked about his assessment of his overall performance. "It's just the same story as last week. We get down the red zone area and for some reason we stall out."

Last week against Green Bay, Washington went without a touchdown in four red zone trips. On Sunday, the group went 0-for-2 in the red zone. And, for the second straight week, Washington's offense outgained its opponent by over 100 total yards, but still managed to finish with fewer points.

"In most of the games, we've moved the ball well. It's not like we're not getting a lot of yards," Heinicke said. "I think we're driving and we're sustaining long drives. Again, it's just when we get to that 35-yard line, to the 20, for whatever reason we just stall out. The name of the game is to score more points than them. It's something we just continue to work on every week and try to get better at."

----------------------

Screens and passes to runningbacks out of the backfield tend to dry up in the RZ. Windows get tighter.

Were 3rd lowest in yards through air per completion at 5 yds per. Behind the Lions and Steelers.

It is what it is. I dont think Allen or Heinike are above each other, just different style QBs. Heinike's play is slipping every week and id have to assume it is D coordinators having film and game planning for our predictable offense under Heiknike.

Id at least like to see Kyle Allen to better judge Turners scheme and help evaluate our QB2 for next year. Heinike? Allen? Player to be named later?

I think if they are giving up on the season, they should just keep Heinicke in there. If for some reason they think they're still "alive", then they should go to Allen.

Shit, maybe they'll just go straight to Logan Thomas. Who cares...

Per CBS SPORTS

The Buffalo Bills and the Washington Football team have been in talks on a possible trade for QB Mitchell Trubisky, per source.

Thoughts?

Why? He is a backup at best as well. Though I guess it depends on the trade cost.

Hes on a 1 yr 2.5M deal so our motivation would be getting to try him out for the remainder of this season.

Bills I guess feel comfortable with whoever is behind Mitch but if I was them I wouldnt do it. They have SB aspirations, complete team and their success isnt solely dependent on Qb like say Seattle.

Is it a 6th R or so? Then sure.

If its a 4th or lower then its ..

I'm open to that idea although it depends on what we give up.

I'd be fine with trading for M Trubisky for the right price, and if he agreed to a longer term deal. I think he's much better than anyone currently on the roster. The knock on him coming out was mostly about inexperience. After four years in the league as a starter, and one backing up one of the best QBs in the league, it would be worth taking a shot - for me.

I agree. Worth a shot. I think he would be an upgrade over anything we have on the roster

Im torn on the most effective approach to finding a franchise QB.

Do you kick the tires on as many former 1st round bust candidates as possible hoping to find your own serviceable Tannenhill?

Do you draft a QB within the first 3 rounds every year until you get your mid 1st to late 3rd round Rodgers, Wilson, Prescott etc?

Do you target a top 5 overall talent like Burrow and trade the house to get them?

Ideally you just tank and get the first overall pick in a draft with a Burrow in it.

I don't think you are limited to one of those options. You could trade for a guy like Trubisky and still target a QB (and you should) top 5 or somewhere else in the draft.

I wonder if Ron sees him as a Tannhelli 2.0
