Maybe this is just who Kirk is as a QB. A guy who's a bit streaky, high highs but also some low lows. When he's on he can carry you, when he's off he's going to blow some games.

Without a strong D and running game, his weaknesses are magnified.

You can say that about a lot of QBs. Heck when Brady started off that's what he relied on to win games. It wasn't until later on in his career that he was able to carry an offense with little help.
