Newton is lighting it up and Dalton has been very effective... leading the Bengals to a 4-2 record. Ponder looked decent in preseason as well... can't judge this class yet, really, but they aren't terrible I know that and I know there is at least 2 that are better than what we have now.

Kerrigan was the right choice... but right now, I think I'd take Dalton over Hankerson, Gomes, and Hurd combined.... that's just me.
Cam been super human. Locker, yet to be seen. But neither were in a position to be drafted by us. Ponder and Gabbert were reaches. Dalton, yeah id take him, but not over Kerrigan. I liked Dalton coming out...not as a first round pick. Take a look at some of the QBs coming out this year, there is some really good talent.

This year's top prospects are much higher quality guys IMO. Much better.
Absolutely agree. Hard to argue with one of, if not the best, drafts we've had in years. And as you mention, by all accounts this years QB class should be much better. I think the FO did an excellent job and had the foresight to look ahead to next years class.

Especially if there's still not going to be a QB worth taking next year. How long can you go without even starting to look for your quarterback of the future?
You have to debate Ponder/Gabbert at 10 vs. what we got instead, which includes Kerrigan, Hankerson, Gomes, and Hurt.

This is true.

And Ponder presumably has not shown enough to unseat DMac5. Gabbert has played poorly. So if we were looking for a QB for RIGHT NOW, neither of those guys would have provided much of an option.

I think the Skins are better coached and schemed than they have been in years but my bigests concern with Shanny is that he has never done anything with with with a QB not named Elway.

I think more often than not you need a quarterback to go out and win the game. That's what separates the playoff and championship teams in this league. Brady, Manning, Brees, and Rivers aren't "managers". You put the ball in their hands to score points and get the win.

A "game manager" would not have helped today. We were behind, couldn't run the ball, and needed two scores in the fourth quarter just to tie the game.

One thing about Shanahan is that he will not take a QB unless he's truly a skilled one. That's why Cutler is the only 1st round QB he has ever taken.

Re: Start John Beck Madness Thread

What was very clear to me was on one play where Beck looked to his left where a couple routes were going, then whipped his head to the right side of the field and through an incomplete pass.

It was the first time i've felt the QB has made a progression all year.

Re: Start John Beck Madness Thread

yes, beck sure did look alot more poised and cerebral than grossman, as well as heaps more mobile than fat boy. I dunno, Ive been calling for him for the past 3 weeks, but I think I truly believe that shanahan made a HUGE mistake starting grossman over beck. It put beck 4 weeks behind the power curve, but I guess being 3-2 after the grossman factor can't be looked at as a loss, it seems that lady luck was on her knees for us lately. We are truly lucky to have a winning record. Maybe Beck can show more poise back there, and start to make some plays. If he is going to show he can succeed in this league, he needs to show it in the red zone. If he can bump up our production down there a bit and limit the turnovers, this season can still be salvageable, and we could contend for the division still. If Shanahan stays with grossman, I will not watch one more washington redskin game until the guy gets benched again or cut. I just don't have the intestinal fortitude to withstand watching Grossman try to play the quarterback position any longer. If he stays with Rex, then his ego is WAY bigger than anyone thought. We will see.

9 int's in 5 games.......that is all that needs to be said. Lost by 7 points with 4 int's easily could've been a game we won.
