Campbell holds the cards now. He'll be a FA next year and will surely stick it to ol' Danny boy if they decide to FINALLY resign him. Shitty (and old) Qb's like Delhomme are getting paid BIG bucks so Campbell should get much more, if not from us, from another team.
I'm sure our FO is going to try to spin this (it did work) for the best but I think they cut Campbell pretty deep. First Cutler then Sanchez. How much disrespect can a guy take?

Considering Delhomme is ranked 22nd on the ALL TIME qb rating list, and he's only 34, I don't think he should be described as shitty or old. Maybe "older".

Well, what's he supposed to say? "Gosh, we really wanted Sanchez but since we couldn't get him, I guess we'll settle for Orakpo?"

Nice pick for Steve Spagnuolo's new defense in St. Louis with Laurinaitis.

But he went further, saying that they had called the 5 teams ahead of us to trade, now I may not agree with doing that, but it certainly is verifiable proof, along with the speed of the pick, to say yes this IS who we really wanted.

Sanchez was taken before the 5 picks before us

I hope that we wanted Orakpo though

I would like to recognize CRedskinsRule, 53Fan, and 724Skinsfan. They saw the smoke screen for what it was. Good job guys!

Unfortunately just getting online, but saw it all live. Great job by the FO pushing the Sanchez talk, bonehead moves by Oak & Den and a questionable one by Buf and we get a fantastic pick!

P.S. I called smokescreen too

Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion

Wow... Rey is going behind Laurinitis. It has to be Rey's lack of discipline- tendency to over-pursue cutback lanes killed him against smaller, fast running backs. NFL defenses cannot risk drafting someone on hitting ability alone- he's got to play within a system with the speed of offensive skill at the next level (he could get away with it in college, especially with Cush and Matthews doing the "boring" work next to him).

As a Trojan, I hope he proves everyone wrong with whatever team takes him... but I'm glad we didn't (Lavar was enough).

Man, even when it comes out alright, we still bitch among ourselves about who was right about something that was all speculation.

You are right. We should all be praising the heck out of the FO for a job well done.

Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion

I cant complain too much. This off-season we upgraded at 4 starting positions not including D Hall.... P-Smith, DT-AH, G-Dockery, LB/DE-Orakpo. Probably take a OL in the 3rd then look for depth the rest of the way. Actually a pretty sweet start to the season even with the few scares with flirting with other QB's.
