Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever

Hey guys I think both of you should settle down on this one. I enjoy reading both of your posts - G1 I think occasionally brings quality content here that I tend to agree with, and SD I think you are fairly rational for a conservative. G1 if I had one suggestion to make - it would just be to ignore Chico more often because Chico is great at one thing - and that's blurring the line between trolling us and actually convincing us that he would be a fluffer for Trump if the job was open. SD I see you getting worked up over G1 and I just think it's not worth it. Nobody is gonna convince anybody their POV is superior in any way so the sooner you both accept it - the more we can work on things we all agree on - like term limits and convincing Chico to spend more time hitting J's instead of the keyboard.

This might be the nicest thing that anyone that is more left than right has ever said about me here.

Alright, truce!

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republicans blocked a Democratic attempt to begin Senate debate on a $10 billion COVID-19 compromise, pressing to entangle the bipartisan package with an election-year showdown over immigration restrictions that poses a politically uncomfortable fight for Democrats.

I thought republicans wanted stand alone bills so bipartisan legislation doesnt get sidetracked with unrelated add ons?

I do. Doesn't mean the Republican assholes in DC will.

If it's a stand alone bill, they want a huge bill. If it's a huge bill, they want a stand alone bill.

Basically the goal is to never pass anything unless they can steal credit credit for it.

Come on now unrelated??? In this case it actually is related. The Executive order that they (GOP) want preserved is specifically related to health restrictions on entry to the US tied to COVID.

Title 42 comes from a 1944 public health law to prevent the spread of communicable disease. It was implemented in March 2020 by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC order empowered border enforcement agencies to remove migrants crossing into the United States, including those hoping to apply for asylum, which is their right under U.S. law and international treaty.

A bill by Senate Republicans to terminate the national emergency declaration for the COVID-19 pandemic narrowly passed March 3 on a party-line vote.

The legislation passed 48-47, with several absences on the Democratic side of the aisle, in a rebuke of the administration's pandemic policies while it is seeking billions from Congress, Politico reports.

The bill has a narrow chance of passing the Democrat-controlled House, and the White House has promised to veto it if it reached President Joe Biden's desk. The president moved to extend the declaration of COVID-19 as a national emergency in a Feb. 18 letter to Congress.

https://www.beckershospitalreview.co...rs-senate.html

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which initiated the move two years ago, said earlier this month that it would lift the ban next month. The restrictions, known as Title 42, have been harder to justify as pandemic restrictions have eased.

Trump administration officials cast the curb as a way to keep COVID-19 from spreading further in the U.S. Democrats considered that an excuse for Trump, whose anti-immigrant rhetoric was a hallmark of his presidency, to keep migrants from entering the country.

Rep. Judy Chu, D-Calif., said she supported terminating Trump’s curb and questioned GOP motives for seeking to reinstate it.

“I find it very ironic for those who haven’t wanted to have a vaccination mandate, for those who did not want to have masks in the classroom, for them to suddenly be very interested in protecting the public,” she said.

In this case the amendment is relevant to Covid policy and money. So Mitch is following the science which says most of the countries where these illegals are coming from haven’t vaccinated, are anti-vax, and vax rates are extremely low…so makes sense to keep title 42 up and running to protect against unnecessary outbreaks.

Thanks Mitch for looking out for the health of the country.

chico and FOX at it again!

Fox News Doctored Clips of Obama’s Visit to the White House to Make It Seem Like Biden Was Lost

The only problem is that both clips were taken out of context. Biden does look a little confused in the first clip, but it’s only because he’s looking for someone, perhaps Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, whom he brings up onstage to applause shortly after the conservative media cut ends. The second clip ends right before Biden gets Obama’s attention and introduces him to someone. Twitter user @acyn helpfully attached the full clips to the end of the Fox News segments lambasting the edited versions

You can't seriously think anonymous twitter user @acyn is a reliable source.
