When New England hires from within it is a completely different thing than when we do it. Lol. They are not hiring from within the 28th ranked defense.

I was always told you do not throw out the baby with the bathwater. Just because we had the 28th ranked defense does not mean all of the coaches were bad.

And nowhere in our critiques do I see mention of our 28th ranked defensive talent pool. Does anyone really believe we're better than that? Look, I'm no Joe Barry fan, but we all knew what a lousy hand he was dealt when the draft and free agency periods were over. There was no louder hue and cry than our complaints about not dipping even a toe into the "deep" defensive line talent pool.

Don't even mention the mad Greek. Proves my point...

If you're a unemployed DC which D would you rather coach? I'd want to coach the Rams. They just have more pieces to work with than we do.

Jason Tarver is also in the mix as DC.

Does Gruden feel like bringing in a strong DC puts his job at risk?

Maybe saying that neither Bradley nor Pettine truly wants the job is jumping to conclusions, but at the same time, with their resumes as defensive coordinators, I'm not seeing why the Redskins would want to interview someone like Rob Ryan unless they feel neither of those guys are still in play.

No most likely not.

The big issue with brining in a "strong DC" is this jobbisnt appealing to any top candidate right now.

We have little talent, the Head Coach has 1-2 years left in his contract. If he is to get fired, the chances of the DC getting fired is highly likely. So, what prominent DC would want to come here and have 1 maybe 2 years to build a defense that is highly limited talent wise?

Its professional suicide.

We will most likely hire with in. Manusky seems to be the favorite. Add some valuable and experienced position coaches like Tarver and Tomsula.

He was hired by the Browns ages ago.

Always a vibrant topic:

Redskins coordinator search could signal switch to 3-4 defense - Washington Redskins Blog- ESPN

D-Line front isn't the issue, but the LB area would be most affected by the switch. Keim makes sense here...

On the flip side the HC has two winning seasons under his belt and is not exactly on the hot seat. We have a bunch of money and draft picks to use rite now on the defense. We certainly do not need to throw a whole lot of attention towards our offense. And the only way is up for our D, so if you come on board now you will look like a genius when it improves.
