We got absolutely destroyed by good passing teams, whatever the string of QB. Guys running free in second and third level all the time. Our D is good. I think it will be better, experience, 2nd year same system, guys like Young Sweat continuing to gel improve, Del Rio freer to dial it up, plus additions at CB and LB and depth at DE. Also, having an O hold its own will be HUGE, our O, a then D can be much more aggressive. That being said, we play some really good teams this year. The winning teams we'll need to beat will be better this year. I don't think it is absurd to view this D as potential top-5 in NFL, but potential must of course be realized. Can you imagine if our O actually scored in the 1st quarter consistently? This D could be a monster. Even if it regresses a bit, it is till a solid top-half of NFL D for sure. |

D Prescott - 7-1 M Ryan - 5-0 T Brady - 5-1 D Jones - 4-0 A Rodgers - 4-3 R Wilson - 3-1 T Bridgewater - 2-0 J Allen - 1-0 P Mahomes - 1-0 S Darnold - 1-0 D Carr - 0-1 J Hurts - 0-1 J Herbert (Rookie of the Year) --- J Winston --- A combined 33-8 against us. We have a better defense now than we had in most of those games, but yeah, the offense is going to have to take a couple steps forward for this team to repeat in the NFC E. Re: Washington Football Team Defense 2021
Ok....but then count the losses where the defense had no chance because Haskins was starting and unless we pitched a shut out, they had no chance to win. Defense didn’t lose the Seattle, Carolina, first Giant game, or second one for that matter. The D had three bad games last year. Detroit, Rams and the playoff game. Look at the 2019 season. We’re headed in the right direction and I’m not sure why fans of the team feel the need to bash the best part of the team. They aren’t the best D of all time or anything, but considering everything that occurred last off season and during the season, we are obviously much better.

Re: Washington Football Team Defense 2021
The D was good, and like I said they will probably be better this year. It's ok to say that, and it's also ok to acknowledge this team didn't really beat a good, healthy team last year.

Re: Washington Football Team Defense 2021
I’m aware. But it’s also a big step forward from losing to everyone good or bad like we have for the last several years.

Re: Washington Football Team Defense 2021
The D carried this team as far as they could last year. All I'm saying is the offense has to take a couple steps forward for them to compete this year, given the schedule. Not bashing at all...

Re: Washington Football Team Defense 2021
I think they will. One that can’t be much worse and we’ve made a lot of decent upgrades. We won’t be boring, that’s for sur.

Re: Washington Football Team Defense 2021
Yes you are right, also keep in mind that last year was the first for a (defensive minded) coaching staff to really get to know all of its players strengths/weaknesses in THEIR system with THEIR coaching. Expect to see a giant leap and most of our star talent is young, expect MAJOR growth there...also, you can only play who your schedule allows...last year, there were games where our defense carried us single handly with an anemic offense
