Re: Broncos sign Brandon Lloyd
The Broncos visit DC this year ,,,,, Landry knocks Loyd out of the game , and Portis runs for 170 yds and two td's , as the Skins ride the Broncos into the sunset 34-6 !!

That would be awesome - payback for those draft picks and the huge signing bonus down the drain. |

This may be a little bit of wishful thinking since we haven't scored 30 or more in a while but we should definitley beat them handily. |

Re: Broncos sign Brandon Lloyd
2004 – Denver: 10-6, One and done in the playoffs.
Washington: 6-10, No Playoffs, Off. Ranked 30th (by yards) 2005 – Denver: 13-3, Bye, Beats Indy, Loses to Pit in Conf. Championships. Washington: 10-6, beat Tampa in WC Games, Lose to Seattle in Div. Rnd. 2006 – Denver: 9-7, No Playoffs, Def. Ranked 14th Washington: 5-11, No Playoffs, Off. Ranked 11th 2007 – Denver: 7-9; No Playoffs, Def. ranked 19th Washington: 9-7, one and done in the playoffs, Off. Ranked 13th. 2008 – Denver 7-9, No Playoffs, Def. ranked 29th Washington 8-8; No Playoffs, Offense ranked 15th So yes. In Champs second year with Denver they went to the conf. championship. One game further than CP and the Skins the same year. From 2006 on, neither team has been impressive. As for the Gibbs willing the team to win, I’ll give you that in 2007 – after Taylor’s death Gibbs held the team together and pushed it into the playoffs. 2005 was a very different story. Yes Gibbs pushed and cajoled the victories – but it was Portis’ running that took us from 5-6 to 10-6. Go back and look at the stats (5 games: 573 yds; 6 TD and 1 passing TD) and the quotes from the players. 2005 was as much CP as Gibbs. Bailey has not done anything like that for the Broncos. He’s a great corner, but he has not carried them anywhere.

Re: Broncos sign Brandon Lloyd
Right. Put them in the NFC East and see how close they come to winning the division.

But to downplay the difference between the NFC East and AFC West is to deny the obvious. And Denver's success has been primarily on the offensive side of the ball, Champ doesn't really do to much WR work these days. Our success has been primarily on the defensive side, haven't seen CP line up at MLB recently either. I would go further and say that on both teams CP and Champ were both one of the brightest spot on their respective unit over the last few years My bottom line on this, is both players have been solid additions to their team. The trade worked for both teams and I am looking forward to CP getting the rushing title this year!!! |

Re: Broncos sign Brandon Lloyd
The Portis/Bailey deal has pretty much been a wash, not sure what the debate is even about anymore.
Back to Lloyd, it's crazy to me that teams are still willing to give this bum a shot. Marshall and Lloyd in the same locker room should be really interesting. |

Re: Broncos sign Brandon Lloyd
JLC basically predicted this last year when he said that Lloyd would turn it on for one year, put up decent numbers, and sucker someone into giving him one more deal. I think we all know how this will end, with him being rude to everyone in the organization from the lunch ladies up and catching like 15 balls. And then hopefully getting back to what he's best it: rapping!

Re: Broncos sign Brandon Lloyd
And just when did he "turn it on"? His line last year was 26 catches in 11 games and that was for his college coach. He is barely training camp fodder, but just like a woman fascinated by "bad boys", every coach seems to be sure they can get something from this waste of god-given ability.

Re: Broncos sign Brandon Lloyd
This may sound funny; the only real "ability" Loyd has is speed & athleticism. I mean that not as a compliment, but that he is actually limited otherwise.
No matter how many acrobatic catches he makes, he doesn't catch the ball well inside, and in traffic. Sure he'll make a great catch when he can extend up w/a defender on him, but he doesn't make that many grabs when a db is lurking behind him. He might've been able to high jump, triple jump, pole vault or run hurdles (don't know if he has that kind of speed though). He's gifted athletically but he's not a football player, doesn't seem to have the drive or the instincts for the game. The fact that he still is playing says something about his natural ability, but I don't think his natural ability is such that he could be a top nfl reciever if he wanted to. I think he could be much better than he is, but he'd never be "great." |
