Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
Yeah, that's shocking to me. Absolutely shocking. This is a guy who spent months spitting venom at the Bears and their management and then he resigns with them? And just as surprising is the price. What a bargain! I never thought I'd see the day that Gibril Wilson got more on the open market than Lance Briggs.

Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
According to PFT (so it's definitely allegedly) we offered him about the same, and he decided he'd rather stay for the same money.
Sounds shady to me. More likely Briggs' camp is leaking that info to save face a little. The market's a little crazy - linebackers are wildly unappreciated.

good deal for bears.
tommie harris is absolutely worth trading for. he's really young and we can't do any better in the draft. |

Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
So, had Briggs come to the Redskins....he would have replaced McIntosh...but once McIntosh had healed...what then? I wonder if this affected his decision? Or maybe the fact that Williams is not here anymore?? Just curious.

Almost had Briggs!
'SKINS MADE A PLAY FOR BRIGGS Though the decision of linebacker Lance Briggs to re-sign with the Bears has created the impression that he had no options elsewhere, a league source tells us that the Redskins made a run at Briggs. It was, per the source, "very close" between the Redskins and the Bears. In the end, Briggs decided given the similarity of the numbers to stay home. Factoring in the $7.2 million salary he earned as a franchise player in 2007, Briggs will earn $28.8 million over four years. Factoring in the Lamborghini he crashed and abandoned, the number is more like $28.3 million. |

Re: Almost had Briggs!
I agree so far PFT was the one that said that the Redskins had deals in place with Hacket and Florence. So far we haven't heard anything from Hacket and Florence signed with the Jags.
Also JLC, says that those rumors aren't true, and JLC isn't one to suck up to Danny boy. If the Redskins had made a play he would have confirmed it. Still Very Quiet Despite reports to the contrary, multiple sources say the Skins did not make any real push for Lance Briggs; in fact, Chicago was his strong suitor by a mile.

Re: Almost had Briggs!
I think us getting Briggs would have been the same case as the Eagles getting Samuel. Yeah he's a good player, but is not in an area we really need (Philly needs a WR badly, probably more than we do).

Re: Bears Bring Briggs Back
I would like Tommie Harris & DeWayne Robertson maybe a 3rd & 4th pick then we can get DE in the 1st & CB in the 2nd, Anthony Mix will step up as the WR we need, if that don't work give Detroit a 2nd for Roy Williams the WR

It would be fantastic then we could trade away picks for star players then trade 3 scrubs and get the picks right back.
