This can't be true, I didn't see his name on the poll.

And aren't they trying to fire said former college position coach? And weren't the Raiders 4-12 last year? The year after they went 2-14? The year after going 4-12? Give me a break. The Raiders have won 10 games in the past three years, the Skins have won 24 in the same period and made the playoffs twice. Give me a break.

What a crazy turn of events! Maybe the fossil at the OC job? Maybe Dan knows he can get the HC he wants next year...?

Mike, I'll give you props on the idea! That would be crazy if it ended up that way.

I hope we're stickin w/him long term & vice-versa. I'm waiting for all the Zorn paraphenalia to come out!

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Multiple Sources Confirm Jim Zorn Named Head Coach

My bad! JLC updated this quickly, went from possibility to "next head coach."

Man, I'm kinda excited. The only thing I don't like about this is Zorn's seattle ties. Big difference between Seattle & DC. I hope he isn't looking to take over the hawks when Mora Jr. flails in a couple years. I would love, as I believe most of us would, for our head coach to make a name here over the next 5-10 years. Zorn is the right age for that to happen if he can have some early success.

Of course, he's never called a play as a pro coach offensively or defensively (he was the utah state OC so that's impressive), but Matt likes him, so, you know, it should work out.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Multiple Sources Confirm Jim Zorn Named Head Coach

Some quotes about Jim Zorn... our new HC...

"He's very hands-on with his quarterbacks," said Redskins cornerback Shawn Springs, who played in Seattle while Zorn was on the coaching staff. "He's a real bright guy. Very sharp. And [Seahawks Pro Bowl quarterback] Matt [Hasselbeck] would tell you he's done a lot for his career. I think he'll be real good for Jason [Campbell]."

"It was leaked out that he might be leaving for a while, but I didn't think he would go," Hasselbeck said. "I've been with him for a long time, and he means a lot to me not just as a coach but as a mentor. I think it's hard for him because he has so many great memories in Seattle, but this is a great opportunity and a great challenge in Washington."
Hasselbeck said quarterback Jason Campbell is getting a solid technician in Zorn.
"Jason can expect to be coached in all aspects of his life, not just Xs and Os, not just the technique of throwing a pigskin," he said. "Jim's going to care about Jason Campbell the person just as much as he's going to care about Jason Campbell the player."
Zorn started 100 games as Seattle's quarterback, experience that makes him equal parts realist and perfectionist.
"He's a realist on things, good and bad," Hasselbeck said. "The tough thing I found with Jim is that you may think you're playing at a level you think is really good and you're doing everything you're supposed to be doing and everything all the coaches have asked you to do.
"Jim will say, 'Now we have to take it to the next level.' And that's hard when you're thinking, 'I had a good game. I was NFC offensive player of the week.' But he'll say, 'You didn't do this, this and this.' But in the big picture, he has a good perspective on things."
